I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Jessica and Lucas celebrated their nuptials with a destination wedding in Sonoma. The day at Trentadue Winery was planned by Milestone Events Group and featured a scenic outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour and garden receptions all on different sections of the property. Vanda Floral Design created airy white florals with hints of light peach and dusty pink. Relaxed wine country vibes set the tone and sunshine was abundant and you can see it all in these images by Catie Coyle Photography.

What made the wedding special and unique?

I always knew I wanted to get married in wine country. I love the idea of a destination wedding. All of your closest family and friends spending a weekend together in a beautiful part of the country always excited me. It only took one trip out to California for Lucas to be fully on board. Several of our friends had been to destination beach weddings but very few had ever been to one out in Sonoma. When looking for venues we wanted to make sure we could find a place where we could have the ceremony and reception outside. Trentadue offered that. We were able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception on different parts of the property. Our guests got to enjoy different views throughout the night.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

BHLDN was my first choice for a wedding dress! As soon as I got engaged, I started looking online. I knew right away when I saw my dress that I loved it. I just needed to try it on to make sure! I went to BHLDN with my mom and bridesmaids. As soon as I tried it on, I knew! It was simple and elegant. Exactly what I wanted.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

We wanted the wedding to be intimate so we only had about 85 people attend. One of our best friends officiated the wedding so he was able to add so many personal touches.

We also realized how much effort it took for people to join us on our day. We wanted to be sure to thank them so we had thank you notes on everyone’s place setting that we personally signed. We got to pick which wines we wanted from the winery so my mom, sister, and I got to fly out for some wine tasting prior to the wedding.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The ceremony! I thought I was going to be so nervous standing in front of so many people expressing my emotions but I was so calm and comfortable. Writing our own vows and having our best friend officiate it made it so incredibly special. It was so picturesque and personal. The vines and mountains in the background made it feel magical. When I look back at the pictures from the ceremony I feel like I am looking at something out of a magazine!

Lucas met my brother-in-law through work. After spending time with my sister and brother-in-law in Mexico on a work trip, my sister and Lucas got to talking about her “single sister.” After a work move brought Lucas from St. Louis to Champaign, IL he decided to make a trip up to Chicago to meet me. The four of us went out to dinner and the rest is history! After dating long distance for almost a year, Lucas quit his job and moved up to Chicago! He proposed a few months later in Central Park in New York. I thought we were just going on a fun weekend trip to visit one of Lucas’s friends who had recently moved there but Lucas had other plans. After proposing, he had a professional photographer capture the moment. My sister and brother-in-law were in town to celebrate and two of my best friends from Chicago surprised me at dinner! They flew all the way out there just to celebrate with us. It was perfect!

When searching for a venue, high school sweethearts Abby and Jay were open to a number of locations. Jay was raised in Michigan and his family resides there while Abby has family in Dubai, the UK, and Canada. So Michigan and the Niagara/Toronto area were both area of interest. Along with planner Lustre Events, the couple toured some gorgeous properties but instantly knew Michigan’s The Valley at Frutig Farms,  was meant for them. The destination celebration was elegant, romantic, and totally filled to the brim with florals by Ines & Marie. Artful details like custom stationery by Simply Sealed and epic display of the cake by Bella e Dolce added wonderment to the design.  Christine Lim was on hand to capture all the moments and we’re thrilled to share her images.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Our wedding was a destination wedding for everyone that came, so it was important to us to make everyone feel included. We did this by having our rehearsal dinner be a “welcome” dinner for everyone who was already in town. Family and friends were able to meet before the big day, which made the evening of the wedding more fun and comfortable as the introductions were out of the way!

One year after our engagement and about 60 dresses later, I found my dress at a small bridal boutique in Michigan. Though I tried on lots of styles, it ended up being exactly what I had envisioned all along!

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Personal touches included photos of the time we have been together (starting in high school) in frames for guests to look at, including pictures of our 4-month backpacking trip through South America last year. The biggest surprise were the llamas that were waiting for us at the end of the aisle! My husband and I fell in love with llamas during our travels, so my mom had the crazy idea to have some crash our wedding! They were waiting to greet us as we exited our ceremony. It was incredible!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Though the whole day was memorable, moments that stood out were our first look, ceremony, and reception.  The excitement of seeing other at the first look and the anticipation of what we were about to do was unreal! The ceremony was incredibly intimate and emotional, and it felt like there was no one else there but Jay and I. Nothing beats the moment we said our personal vows to one another. The tears wouldn’t stop flowing! To look around the beautiful tent and see all of our loved ones in one space was a moment we won’t forget.

Jay and I met in middle school in Dubai, and began dating in 11th grade. We managed to do long distance with him in the US and myself in Canada for four years, which meant a lot of planes and road trips! In the summer of 2016, we went on a canoe portaging trip in Algonquin Park, and it was there that Jay proposed to me! I still have no idea how he was able to hide the ring box from me (we shared a backpack) and have the guts to bring it on our canoe. Lucky for me, he recorded the whole thing with the GoPro so we have a wonderful memory of the day!

Never has black, white and red all over looked as good as on Simone and Jeff’s Pebble Beach wedding day. With it’s stunning backdrop, Monterey Peninsula Country Club set the scene and wedding planner and designer Coastside Couture surely delivered with details perfectly balancing glam and effortless. The work of florist Fionna Floral incorporated a palette of rich reds and autumn fruits and flowed from the bridal party bouquets, to the ceremony arch, to the topiary escort card display to the lush tablescapes. Invitations were by Feel Good Wedding Invites with day-of paper by Heart Paper Soul and a killer cake from Edith Meyer and you can see it all in BrittRenePhoto‘s beautiful images below.

What made the wedding special and unique?

We were blessed with summer weather in November. The Central Coast is typically chilly and overcast, but our entire wedding week was in the 80’s! It was the one thing we couldn’t plan, and the sunshine made the overall mood feel even more celebratory. We had the most gorgeous autumn sunset on our wedding night, a true cotton candy sky!

Right when I got home from Hawaii, my mom and sister came to visit me in LA. My sister surprised me with a few dress appointments she’d made for fun, but I had no intention of actually finding my wedding dress that day! Of course it wound up being at the first place we went to. I’ve always loved Oscar de la Renta because of his Spanish flair and I instantly fell in love with the beading and silk faille train on mine. It was definitely a bit impulsive considering we didn’t have a date set or a venue, but it all worked out perfectly!

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Jeff and I have different religious backgrounds, but we still wanted to keep the wedding tradition of doing something together to unite us at the end of the ceremony. We decided to do a “Unity Drive” since our ceremony was on a driving range in Pebble Beach. It was a fun surprise for our guests and something that will always be unique to us. We still can’t believe we both managed to hit our drives wearing a tuxedo and a wedding gown!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Sharing our vows! Jeff’s were so funny and thoughtful, hearing his was my favorite part!

Jeff and I met on a dance floor at a will.i.am concert! There was chemistry the night we met, but we didn’t start dating until 6 years later. He proposed last December at one of our favorite places in Hawaii!

Sylvia and Rufus’s scenic British Columbia wedding took place at Sea to Sky Gondola on a platform in the mountains with epic scenic views of the ocean below. Planning a decor was by WeDo Weddings Etc. with pastel florals by Balconi Floral Design Studio. The look was a mixture of graphic and rustic with bits of romance and we love the way Beige Weddings  captured it all in these dreamy photographs.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Definitely the magical location! The mountain + ocean view is just simply breathtaking, not to mention having the opportunity to say our wedding vows with that backdrop behind us! We also got super lucky with the weather, our province of British Columbia was suffering from forest fire but we got lucky with a heavy rainfall right before our wedding day; it’s like the universe got us the best wedding gift ever!

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

You know how sometimes there are things in life that you encounter over and over again, but you never pay attention to it at all, until that day you finally notice it and it gives you the best surprise? That’s basically how I found my wedding gown! It’s a bridal store that I’ve driven by SO many times, and finally, I decided to go in one day, and that’s how I found my dream dress.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

My husband is in love with snowboarding, and we have both been so in love with nature. So being able to host our wedding on top of the mountain here on the west coast is absolutely a dream come true!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Instead of walking “down the aisle”, I walked across the suspension bridge for my entrance, the bridge offers a backdrop that falls away thousands of feet below and it was absolutely spectacular. Also, my husband cried FIVE TIMES on our wedding day, his surprise speech was the most heart-felt speech ever that surprised everyone!

We met when we were doing our undergrads at the University of British Columbia. We got engaged on the peak of Cypress Mountain.

Cara and Michael met while traveling to visit mutual friends. The connection was immediate and a long-distance relationship quickly ensued and a proposal soon after. The couple celebrated their love with friends an family traveling cross-country for their scenic wedding day at Peconic Bay Yacht Club. Blue letterpress designs by Ipanema Press introduced the day, romantic florals by Ava Flora dressed the event and Cappy Hotchkiss was behind the lens to capture all the details on the bright and sunny day.

What feelings would you like to evoke with this ceremony-both to your family, friends, and, of course, each other?

We would like to embrace that we are outside on the water overlooking Shelter Island, the Peconic Bay and the gorgeous area of the North Fork surrounded by our nearest and dearest who traveled near and far to share in our wedding celebrations, from Seattle, Washington DC, Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Maryland,  Boston,  Eastern/Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Florida, Buffalo – and even locally Long Island to the North Fork for a fun and joyous occasion as we start our new beginning as husband and wife.

Please tell us in your own words how you met one another and fell in love?

How They Met:
Cara and Michael met in the summer of 2015 in Long Beach, New York while Cara was visiting for a Delta Gamma girls weekend. While Cara, Marissa (Matron of Honor), Brooke (Bridesmaid) and Kelly (Bridesmaid) were hanging out by the pool, Marissa’s then-boyfriend, now-husband, Joey (Best Man)  and his friend “Goots” aka Michael visited, whose job it was to bring the mozzarella (mozz-balls). Michael helped Joey grill the steaks by the pool before the girls headed into the city.
At that time, Cara was living in Chicago and Michael mentioned that he was heading to Chicago for a guy’s weekend the following month and they struck up a conversation about the famed “Windy City.”

The next month when Michael and crew arrived to their hotel they were greeted by a dozen of Chicago’s best donuts that were hand delivered earlier that morning by Cara. After the weekend was over, Michael extended his stay in Chicago and he and Cara had their first official date at RPM Steak (it was a hard decision as she had made 3 other reservations in anticipation) where they enjoyed an amazing meal filled with lots of laughs. After dinner Michael insisted on bringing a “doggy-bag” home filled with filet for Maddie. Michael instantly won Maddie’s heart, and Cara’s, too and as they say, the rest is history.

The following months were spent with each of them flying between (a total of 18 flights between the two) New York and Chicago, where they fell in love with each other, sharing their favorite parts of their hometowns. From ballgames, the beach, boat tours, museums, amazing dinners and fun cocktails at wonderful restaurants, they enjoyed the best of both worlds discovering they make the perfect match.

The Proposal: Cara didn’t think she liked surprises, but little did she know this one would be the best one yet with the one she loved! When Cara’s birthday weekend arrived last year she thought the weekend would be nothing more than a fun Friday night dinner at Green River with her dear friend Sharon (Maid of Honor). Michael and Cara had just seen each other the weekend prior and had a trip planned the following weekend so Cara insisted on Michael to stay in New York for her birthday weekend. Little did Cara know that Michael, with Sharon’s help, had the best surprise in store for her birthday evening! Early that week, Michael sent Cara thirty-three tulips, one of her favorite flowers, for her thirty-third birthday. During the birthday dinner, a plate with a tulip on it was delivered tableside to Cara – and when Cara turned around to her surprise Michael was standing there and ready to celebrate the big birthday weekend!

The next morning, Michael surprised Cara and Maddie with a gorgeous suite at her favorite hotel, The Langham Chicago, for a relaxing birthday staycation. Michael arranged for the suite, upon entrance, to be filled with roses, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and the ring! To Cara’s surprise, Michael proposed right then and there in the suite, which was located above the Wabash Bridge where the two had shared their first kiss – and Cara said YES! The newly engaged couple spent the rest of the weekend celebrating and sharing the news with their friends and family! Shortly after in March 2016, Cara and Maddie bid farewell to the “Windy City” and joined Michael in the City of Long Beach, New York and the newly engaged couple began their next adventure together in the “City By The Sea.”

What was that defining moment when you realized each other was “The One?”

Michael realized Cara was the one when she and Maddie came to New York for Labor Day weekend 2015 and he was dropping her off at the airport and Cara begin tearing as they were saying goodbye before the next visit and, trying to console Cara, Mike told her “Don’t cry babe, you know I love you!”  and then quickly tried to cover it up and act like he didn’t say it and Cara didn’t hear it.

Cara realized Michael was the one when we had the most perfect afternoon walking around Chicago and we were at an outside wine bar. The sun was shining, weather was perfect and enjoying a great glass of wine, she knew she didn’t want this day or for Michael to leave but most of that Cara had met the most perfect, caring and loving guy that I wanted to spend forever with and have another 100 more perfect days together.

What do you feel makes you and your love special and the love you have for each other special? In other words, what do you like about each other AND what do each of you bring to the table that makes your relationship work?

We both have waited to find each other and we would never have found each other without our amazing friends and because of this we both completely committed to being together from the start.  We fell in love while living in separate cities and states and early on we realized we loved each other and would do whatever it would take to be together from long weekends traveling back and forth from New York and Chicago, career and city move for Cara and during all of this making more memories, falling more in love and cherishing every moment together until our next time together.

During this entire time, up to this moment and in years to go Michael has been my strength, support, patience, guiding light in both the good and the bad but most of all my home and forever love.

Cara is Michael’s true love and inspiration in life, his drive, his number 1 supporter and encouragement to excel, so thoughtful loving and caring, she completes him, she is his home.

What are your hopes and dreams for your future together?

That we’ll never forget how special our wedding day was surrounded by our friends and family and through all our adventures, the good and the bad and everything in-between that we’ll never forget how in love we are at this moment and that we’ll carry this love in our hearts from now until forever.
