TGIF! We know you’re going to return to this post all weekend for continual inspiration because this wedding is AMAZING! Designed by Keely Thorne Events and photographed by the incredibleKelli Durham, Holly and Austin’s big day at Houston Oaks Country Club is one for the books. Florist Bows and Arrows created green and white masterpieces at every turn—our faves include the breathtaking ceremony arch and the bountiful tent garlands. And the rentals—oh the rentals! Events in Bloom put together some magic in the tent with an amazing custom bar and gorgeous suspended lighting. There’s something stunning at every turn and we’re, basically, totally in love and know you will be too!
What made the wedding special and unique?
Getting rained on as we said our I Do’s! It was a magical & exciting moment (as you’ll see in the video link below)!
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
It was a Monique gown, first one I tried on at Casa de Novia, here in Houston.
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
We had our favorite restaurant, Uchi, have a special spot serving our guests our top three favorite bite-size dishes.
Bringing in Bows & Arrows for the floral, having Jessie’s Girls as our live band (they were a highlight of the night!), and The Grand Bevy for freshly made craft-cocktails (this was a must at our wedding!)
What was the most memorable part of the day?
Walking down the aisle with thunder in the background and seeing everyone’s smiling faces… the rain started pouring on us as we kissed!
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met in high school and started dating our junior year. He took me on a surprise trip to Nevis Island, staying at The Four Seasons, beach-front, for Valentine’s weekend 2014. We arrived the night before Valentine’s Day, so the day of he took me on a picnic to “Lovers Beach” which is a private beach on the island. We drank white wine and walked down to the end, where he got down on one knee and proposed. The rest of the trip was magical as it became the most romantic vacation of my life (besides our honeymoon of course)!
