Carly and Dave’s first date was a bust—Dave got sick and his car was towed—but it was meant to be and, for better or worse, they’ve been together ever since! The couple tied the knot in a modern celebration at La Quinta Country Club in Palm Springs. HoneyFitz Events planned the day filled with tropical and luscious greens by Little Hill Floral Design that reminded the couple of their favorite vacation spots. An understated color palette highlights all the stand-out details like the graphic acrylic seating chart affixed to a topiary wall and white blooms dancing around the custom neon signage. We love the bold, happy vibes and lucky for us Michelle Kyle Photography  was on hand to capture it all!

What made the wedding special and unique?

Having all of  their closest family and friends together to celebrate with them!

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

Carly’s Wedding Gown is Pronovias and was purchased at The White Dress in Newport Beach. She was immediately drawn to the unique lace and illusion panels on the side.

\

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Touches of tropical and luscious greens reminded them of their favorite vacation spots — including Palm Springs. The Chuppah Canopy was hand-sewn by the groom’s mom. Carly’s wedding gown had lace from her mom’s wedding gown sewn on the inside.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Stomping on the glass and making it official!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Carly and Dave met at a bar — Palihouse in West Hollywood, CA. After having one of the worst first dinner dates — Dave got sick and his car was towed — they have been together ever since!

Sheela and Joe wanted their wedding “to feel like a giant dinner party with our closest family and friends.” Sheela also happens to be a food writer, so cooking and food experiences are a favorite pastime of the couple. Needless to say, the bar was set high and Piccolo delivered the dinner party of their dreams at Portland’s The Barn on Walnut Hill. The event is filled with garden party details and farm-inspired florals by Broadturn Farm. Emily Delamater was behind the lens and she captured it all in these stunning images.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Sheela: I lived in Italy for awhile and quickly fell in love with the food and the relaxed style of dining there. Since I also happen to be a food writer and cooking and sharing food experiences are two of our favorite hobbies together, we really wanted our wedding to feel like a giant dinner party with our closest family and friends. It was exactly that and then some. We can’t tell you how many times people told us that wedding food is always an afterthought and it will never be as good as we actually wanted it to be, but it was that and more. We loved that people were as excited about the food and drink and company surrounding it as we were — and that we ate more at our own wedding than we have at any other wedding! Piccolo blew us always with their ability to deliver the dinner party of our dreams and we will always be so thankful for that.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

Sheela: The gown is Truvelle, a boutique designer based in Vancouver, Canada. I stumbled upon them on Pinterest and immediately fell in love with their modern yet classic design that’s feminine and whimsical. There are only a handful of shops in the U.S. that carry their gowns and luckily there was one near my apartment in Brooklyn. The dress I chose felt like it could have been made for me — it was so airy and effortless, with really thoughtful touches. Plus, it was the most comfortable gown ever — I didn’t want to take it off at the end of the night!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Sheela: There are too many to count! Though I’d have to say the ceremony itself stands out the most. We asked my aunt and uncle to marry us — I am incredibly close to both of them and they’ve been married for almost 60 years. They’re as in love now as they were the day they got married and having them bless us and start us on our journey as husband and wife together couldn’t have been more special. We also wrote our own vows, and while there was so much trembling and tears, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Joe: We hate to say we met at a bar but, well, we met at a bar, as wing-people for our two friends who were on a sort of casual first date after meeting randomly a few nights earlier. Sheela’s friend dragged her with her because she had met the guy late at night at a bar and wanted to ensure he wasn’t completely crazy upon meeting him the second time. She came as her back up plan in case he actually was, in which case she could casually say they needed to go, ha! I came a little later. One, to let my friend spend more time with Sheela’s friend without her, and we quickly hit it off and spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other. We exchanged phone numbers and went on our first date a couple of weeks later.

I proposed 4 years later. Sheela had been away for the weekend and I told her I’d take care of dinner the night she got back. As we were just finishing our meal out on our balcony, I reached into my pocket and immediately she thought it was an engagement ring, which was exactly what I hoped she would do. What she didn’t know was that I had a special pair of earrings custom made for her, and this was what was in the box. I said that “I just missed you this weekend and wanted to give you something special.” What she didn’t know was that I still had a little bag in my pocket that contained the ring. In order to not seem obvious, I told her I had to use the bathroom, which would allow me the opportunity to take the ring out of the bag.

Once I got back outside to the balcony and sat down, I started telling her the story of how the earrings were made. I told her that the earrings were actually made using her mom’s engagement ring band, and then proceeded to pull out the remainder of the ring (the diamond) on a newly mounted setting and asked her to marry me.

Bride Cori is a buyer for Neiman Marcus, so it’s no surprise her wedding to Daniel is impeccably styled—not to mention incredibly romantic. The couple worked with Eighteenth Avenue Events to plan the day and enlisted stationer Where’s The Party and florist The Heirloom Table to deck out The Addison Grove in blush and white roses. The floral wrapping the trees flanking the ceremony and the stunning centerpieces brought the bride to tears, but the smile on Daniel’s face as she walked down the isle in her stunning Romona Keveza gown still gives Cori butterflies. Lucky for us, Brittany Jean Photography captured that moment and all the others in the this stunning celebration.

What made the wedding special and unique?

My mom had a big hand in the planning/design from the start and I loved how our visions came together. The floral from Mercedez at the Heirloom Table was beyond my expectations…I still think about the floral wrapped trees at the ceremony, the incredible table arrangements and the carefully placed floral on the cake! It was so refreshing to trust our florist to execute the vision and we knew that her passion would come through in every way. Her taste and talent is insane! All of the small details were magical from the perfect shade of blush ribbon on the fold of the dinner napkins to the beautiful calligraphy that my friend tastefully did on the deckled edge Italian paper place cards to the unique vintage stamps individually placed on each invitation. We hired a month-of planner, Ashley Ramirez from Eighteenth Avenue Events, to help pull it all together in the end. Every little detail was perfect and just how I imagined.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I am a buyer for Neiman Marcus so it was an obvious choice for me to choose my wedding dress in the iconic bridal salon! My mom flew in town and although we didn’t find the dress that weekend, I continued to visit the salon every day to see what was new. Finally I found my dress a few weeks later and I was obsessed! The Romona Keveza dress was the perfect mix of edgy and vintage for me! After a rain soaked week in Austin, I made a last minute change to flat shoes so I wore both the Aquazurra gold bow heels and the jeweled flats from Giuseppe Zanotti.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

One thing that we added was a small bouquet on an empty chair at the ceremony in memory of my dad who passed away 16 years ago. It was a gentle reminder when I looked over that he was watching over me that day. Also, Daniel & I wanted the wedding to feel very romantic and intimate. We accomplished that by keeping the guest list tight & having long farm tables so everyone could get to know each other & feel at home. We meticulously chose vintage stamps one by one to place on the wedding invitations…no 2 invitations were the same.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

There are several standout moments from that special day that will forever be engraved in my mind. The florist truly blew my mind and brought me to tears. People still comment on how exquisite the floral was. It was also so special to see our friends and family come together! This was actually the first time our families had met since we are both originally from different states. It was slightly unconventional for them to meet on this big day but we knew they would get along so incredibly well & it was perfect! And how could I forget the look on his face as I walked down the aisle. Wow – I still get butterflies thinking of his smile as he waited for me. The day goes by so incredibly fast but we are able to relive all of the big moments through the beautiful work of our photographer Brittany. We felt such a connection with her and for someone as shy as myself in pictures, I felt comfortable. We love looking back at our album!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Daniel & I met by swiping right on Bumble in 2015! I knew after our first date that I had met my person. Our relationship took us on tons of adventures in our first year and shortly after our 1 year anniversary Daniel planned the biggest adventure of all. He whisked me away for a surprise birthday getaway to New York City, complete with tickets to a New York Giants football game – I’m a huge fan! As if the game wasn’t enough, he had one more surprise up his sleeve. On the final morning in the city that never sleeps, we made our way to Central Park’s Bow Bridge where he asked me to be his wife. Talk about being swept off of your feet. I was floored, thrilled and excited for a life full of adventures to come!

Gabrielle and Benjamin’s Miami wedding at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is DRAMA—in the best possible way. The bride’s vision of “Secret-Garden-meets-Miami, edgy-meets-romantic, and art-deco-meets-old-world-elegance” was achieved with the help of Elite Planning Firm and a slew of fabulous vendors. Gabrielle runs her own design biz, Cazadora Creative Co., and set the tone with the custom stationery suite. The rest of the details followed suite, highlighted by florals in a moody, dusty palette by Anthology Co. The couple enlisted Lauren Apel Photo to capture their day and the result is pretty spectacular!

What made the wedding special and unique?

I think the fact that it was a destination wedding already made it a little more special. We really wanted to give our guests the Miami experience! But other than that, the wedding was just so us. I was very involved in every single decision throughout the process & at the end of the day I think our personalities really came through. Also, getting married at the famous Vizcaya Museum & Gardens didn’t hurt. We even had a tiny bit of rain after the ceremony and luckily were able to move the reception inside the mansion. It’s the first time Vizcaya has ever had a dance floor on the marble overlooking the east terrace!

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I love this story! I spent all day with my mom and best friends trying on gowns. BUT I spent all day trying on over-the-top, lace, beaded gowns and they were ALL beautiful. On my way to my last appointment we got stuck in traffic and nearly missed the entire appointment. When I arrived they told me I had only 15 minutes and that I could try on one dress. I quickly ran thru the showroom and I grabbed this long sleeve crepe gown, not a bead or lace in sight. Sure enough she zipped it up and I knew instantly it was the one. But I wanted to see my mom and friends’ reaction before I truly decided. The moment I walked out it was tears all around! The dress was purchased at Patsy’s Bridal Boutique in Dallas, Texas.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

My vision was Secret Garden meets Miami, edgy meets romantic, and art deco meets old world elegance. We used a lot of mauvey colors and matte black accents. I also designed all of the wedding stationery. I own my own stationery design business (Cazadora Creative Co.), so I knew that was one way that my guests would feel the personal touches.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Hardest most impossible question. There are so many sacred moments for me! I loved when we were pronounced Husband & Wife and we walked out together to Say A Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin, all of our guests were singing along. Or maybe dancing the night away with all of our family and friends. Every single guest was on the dance floor and that was really special!

Tell us how you met and became engaged?

Benj & I met while both watching Game 7 of the NBA finals with mutual friends. Ironically, the Miami Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs that night and it was the first time Miami would come into our lives. Ben proposed 3 years later at the San Fernando Cathedral surrounded by our friends and family – AND mariachi bands. We stayed up until 5am celebrating our engagement with our friends!

A traditional Hindu ceremony normally takes place in a ballroom with many family and friends, but today’s featured couple decided to throw a less traditional wedding reception—on a farm! Filled with all the vibrant visuals we love so much about Indian weddings, this one captured by Grey Collective member D. Park Photography and planned by So Eventful LLC  shows the unique pairing of cultural traditions and the rustic barn setting of Olympia’s Valley Estate.

What made the wedding special and unique?

A traditional Hindu ceremony normally takes place in a ballroom with many family and friends. This couple decided to throw a less traditional wedding reception and show their closest friends and family something they have probably never seen before by taking them to an outdoor farm venue filled with livestock and a beautiful barn for dinner.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

During the Hindu ceremony, a pack of cows came to watch over. In the Hindu culture, cows are very sacred and deeply respected so this was fun to see! All of the guests were so excited to see the cows watching over, it was almost like the cows were blessing the couple.

Tasha and Jim wanted “to mesh a very traditional Serbian Orthodox wedding ceremony at a more relaxed, beachy, outdoor location” and enlisted Details Event Planning to help implement their vision at Montage Laguna Beach. A casual elegance underlies the design of the garden ceremony reception while spectacular greenery and florals by Mark’s Garden grace every detail. Stationery and custom crest is by Papel Paper and Press, cake by Fantasy Frostings and it’s all captured by Birds of a Feather Photography.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Our venue! We wanted to mesh a very traditional Serbian Orthodox wedding ceremony at a more relaxed, beachy, outdoor location. We also wanted it to feel formal enough for the occasion and the Montage in Laguna Beach was absolutely perfect.  Dancing under the canopy of fairy lights and flowing ribbons while the waves crashed on the beach below is something we and our guests will never forget!

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

My gown was Carolina Herrera and I found it at her boutique in Beverly Hills. I wanted something simple, classic, and elegant – my only stipulation (or so I thought) was no strapless, but as soon as I tried on my gown I knew it was the one! I especially loved the tuxedo bow detail in the back!

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

We had an artist create a Perry family crest for our big day, we used this in our invitation suite and throughout all the paper goods for the wedding. It was such a special way to commemorate this amazing day that started our life together, we even put the crest up in our bedroom to remind us of our beginning as husband and wife.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

As the sun was setting, my new husband and I took a few minutes to step away and take some photos with this gorgeous backdrop of a Laguna Beach sunset. We finally had some time to take in the meaning of the day and be thankful for celebrating this momentous occasion with all of our family and friends. It is a moment that neither of us will ever forget.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We met on the tried and true Tinder App, which we will laugh about forever! He proposed to me on his birthday, knowing that was the only way he could truly surprise me! I had planned a big birthday dinner out for him with some surprise birthday gifts so was completely caught off guard when he popped the question that night!

Tara and Jeremy’s wedding at Boone Hall Avenue of Oaks + Cotton Dock is all of it—romantic, southern, fresh, rustic, vintage, scenic, intimate, inviting, timeless….and the list goes on and on. The day, planned by Erin Altman of Ooh! Events, is truly a modern wedding dream in a beautiful palette of blues. Florals in white and tall greenery centerpieces are by Out of the Garden, monochromatic blue-on-blue letterpress stationery sets the tone and a lovely pantry blue cake is by Declare Cakes. We’re loving the bamboo chairs and the velvet touches but the bride’s smile truly lights up all these breathtaking images captured by Shauna Veasey.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Having our friends and family all in one place was what made it so special. Most of my family and friends are from New York and my husband’s family is from Georgia, so having them travel to Charleston, SC meant the world to us. Boone Hall Plantation was a dream venue and getting married under the oaks made it a perfect setting.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I found my gown at the very first boutique I visited, Hayden Olivia Bridal in Charlotte, NC. It was actually the very first one I tried on and fell in love. It was exactly what I was looking for. Simple and elegant. I, of course, went to two other places and tried on more dresses just to make sure, but I knew the first one was the one. The designer was Modern Trousseau. It was deep V-neck with pearl beaded bodice and Italian crepe fit to flare skirt with chapel train.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Instead of a wedding guest book, we had a custom portrait made for guests to sign. It was an illustration of us in our wedding attire and we even had our two dogs included in the photo.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The entire day was amazing. However, I would say the most memorable moment was walking to the Cotton Dock for the first time with my husband and having our first dance with all our friends and family around us. The dance floor was outside on the Cotton Dock which reaches out over the tidal marsh. It was beautiful and one of my favorite moments.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We met online and realized we had mutual friends so we went on a date and have been together ever since. We were dating for 3 years before we got engaged. My husband works in the racing industry so we went to Las Vegas for the NASCAR Awards Ceremony. Little did I know he had the ring with him the entire time. We went out to dinner and then headed back to the hotel and he proposed in the hotel. It was the sweetest proposal and brought me to tears. I definitely had no idea it was coming. It was the best surprise.

Photographer Erin Milnik‘s singular inspiration behind this shoot was her love for poppies and the bright and cheerful vibe they bring to weddings. Keeping details simple and focusing on the bloom, Madilyn Broxham Design incorporated poppies into the whimsical invitation suite along with added pops of orange using vintage stamps. Susan, with Sweet Lilacs Studio created a bouquet made up of entirely all Icelandic poppies in an array of bold oranges, magentas, and soft pinks. Kumquats decorate garland draped across the bar of an adorable caravan— a joyful little detail adding to the mood of the shoot and capturing the warm feelings of summer seen here in Erin Milnik ‘s beautiful images.
