Morgan and Chris had, what looks to us, like the most fun wedding ever. The bride, Morgan, had a head start on all of us because of her job as the Production Sweetheart for Milou + Olin Photography (who naturally jumped in to photographer her big day!!!). With her toes in the wedding industry already, Morgan dove head first into wedding planning with coordinator, Yelena Johnson of The Stylish Soiree alongside their floral designer, Asiel Design. We just can’t get over all the fun details, ideas, and personality that shine through their big day, which took place at The Sainte Claire Hotel. I mean, the flowers, the aisle runner, those invites from The Aerialist Press, the striped linens from La Tavola Linens, and the cake from Sweet Tooth Confections!!! We are dying! We also decided to include a chance for you to “shop the post” because we really can’t get enough of the details! Are you ready to be bowled over?!?

Tell us about finding the dress!

The dress was a magical serendipitous moment that fell in my lap! I have loved Lazaro’s dresses since I first knew what wedding dresses were, and had subscribed to his trunk show schedule a few years earlier. Right before Chris and I were set to go on vacation to Disneyland for a few days, I got an email that a trunk show was going on only a few minutes away – I dropped in for an appointment and immediately fell in love with a “sherbert” colored light peach tulle creation that was unique from anything I’d seen before. I even got to meet Lazaro Perez (he’s a really nice guy!), and he gave me a signed sketch of my dress! The alterations team at the Mon Amie bridal salon in Santa Ana are so talented; they made small changes that made the dress fit like a glove! They also somehow tackled hemming those yards and yards of tulle!

How did decide on your wedding look?

What we weren’t expecting was how much our friends and family had looked forward to having a giant celebration like this! My parents wanted to jump immediately into wedding planning, and we were off on a venue hunt before we knew it. We searched wineries in the central coast, hotels in Monterey, country clubs in the Bay Area, but nothing really struck either of us as “the one”. Around the time we wanted to call it quits and elope, I was narrowing down my years of Pinterest wedding inspiration boards, and defining the theme – I noticed that my favorites all were a sort of homage to my long standing love of Kate Spade, and succumbed to poppy brights and black and white stripes with gold polka dots.

How did you find your venue?

We decided to visit The Sainte Claire Hotel on a whim; its adjoining restaurant Il Fornaio had black and white striped valances and had popped up in a search for wedding photos. We walked in to glorious 1920′s architectural details and an amazing ballroom space that could easily accommodate our guest count. (bonus: it was also two blocks away from our first “date” together; ice skating at the San Jose rink!) We knew it was too perfect, and booked it immediately.

Tell us about the details that came together for the big day.

This wedding was a product of so many years of love and support from both sides of our families. I had an incredible team of vendors sourced from personal contacts I’ve made in the wedding industry, so the entire event felt like I was surrounded by nothing but friends and family.

I knew my coordinator, Yelena Johnson, through some drop dead gorgeous styled shoots we’d done with her at Milou + Olin, and we are essentially style twins. She was in love with my theme even before I was done describing it, and I knew she would design my wedding with a personal touch. Her eye for detail was everywhere – even down to the adorable striped and polka dotted cocktail straws! She took everything I wanted and made it even more magical than I could have ever hoped for. Our florist, Linnea of Asiel, was so smitten with my theme that I gave her the reigns; all the flowers on our wedding day were a surprise! I’d seen her incredible work with Milou + Olin on shoots before, so I had full confidence in her, and I wasn’t let down! I am still in love with the photos of my bouquet, and the flower hedge at our ceremony was perfection.

What were some of your favorite highlights?

If you didn’t know yet, I work for Milou + Olin Photography as a production assistant, and have seen Caroline shoot some seriously gorgeous weddings in the two years I’ve been here. I knew from the beginning that she was going to be my photographer, and she didn’t disappoint. Caroline told me she was really nervous since I know the business in and out, but you would never know it – she and our assistant photographer Don were like photo ninjas all day; they are so quick to catch all the perfect moments!

Live music was something Chris and I really were passionate about, and thankfully we were able to find a little extra in our budget, because it was our favorite element of the wedding. Our band, put together by Fil Lorenz , exceeded all expectations. They provided a pianist for the ceremony, two-piece for the cocktail hour, and a full “little big band” for our reception, and our guests were raving the entire night about how amazing they were. We had a combination of jazz, blues, and a little funk that kept everyone on the dance floor all night!

I have to mention the food as well – Il Fornaio, who runs all the events at the Sainte Claire, had the most delicious options for us! They even created special entrees for my mom, who is gluten intolerant, and our guests could choose between beef tenderloin, sea bass, rack of lamb, and mushroom crepes (they were all amazing at the tasting). They also served a peach Bellini sorbetto as an intermezzo, and it was such a big hit! Peach Bellinis are my signature drink, so needless to say, it was my favorite.

The biggest surprise hit of the night was the Giggle and Riot photo booth! It was an awesome way for our guests to get instant, high-quality images from the wedding, and for the next week they were busy sharing them via Facebook and e-mail talking about how much fun the event was. Some of Chris’s favorite photos are the ones he got with family friends and the groomsmen in the booth; they are priceless!

How did you two meet?

Chris and I met in 2005 at college in San Luis Obispo, and immediately fell into a whirl-wind best friendship! We adventured around the central coast, spending endless hours tide pooling and taking long drives in the gorgeous countryside in an attempt to get lost and end up somewhere new. After a year we gave in and became an “official” couple, and since then we’ve finished college together, supported each other through multiple jobs and moves, and have only ever grown closer.

How did the engagement happen?

After seven years of dating, I wasn’t necessarily itching to get married, but it seemed like a natural next step. Chris, however, kept insisting that marriage was a social construct that didn’t apply to us; we were happy, stable, and neither of our parents were pressuring us. I put the idea aside for a while, thinking that maybe he’d come around, or we’d have a small elopement somewhere someday. Chris made a big deal out of his “secret” valentines day plans for 2013, but I brushed it aside; he had set up great surprises before for my birthday or our anniversary previously. It turns out he had made reservations at The Firehouse – a historic, Zagat rated restaurant in Old Sacramento with an incredible romantic ambiance and even more incredible food. We had an unforgettable meal, and walked the docks on the Sacramento River afterward like we had hundreds of times before. He pulled a ring out of his jacket pocket when I wasn’t looking, and I don’t think I fully believed him, because it took me a minute to say “yes, of course!” I shouldn’t be surprised after seven years, but he chose the most perfect ring without anyone’s help – it’s a gorgeous rose gold filigreed band with rows of diamonds leading to a beautiful peach sapphire in the center. It’s traditional and unique all at once!

What was your favorite moment?

Overall the wedding was a huge love fest of all our family and friends who have supported and cared for us for years, and it was bucketloads of fun. We danced, we schmoozed, we talked with friends we hadn’t seen in far too long, and it was perfect and magical. I’ll be reliving the best day ever with Chris for years to come.

Our story began three years ago, when we had the idea to reinvent the ring box. Taking inspiration from the petite boxes of the early 1900′s, we set out to bring back an heirloom that had fallen to the wayside. Inspired by the unique personalities and tastes of the brides whose stories and weddings we share on a daily basis, we created our first collection in a rainbow of colors from vintage French velvet, sourced from mills that are no longer in existence! For this reason, each color is a limited edition piece! This project involved months and months of research, and even more months of development! We are so beyond excited that we are finally ready to tell you all about it! We’ll be starting pre-sale orders in just a few weeks, so if you want to nab one, be sure to head over to TheMrsBox.com to sign up for our newsletter where we’ll let you know when you can order your very own. Follow us on twitter or instagram @the_mrs_box to keep up with our journey! And just you wait…many more photos to come!

John and Ashleigh are a music loving couple that hosted friends and family for a very intimate wedding at Royal Palms Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. The pair was lucky enough to find the perfect band for their big day, and made sure to have some of their favorite songs from the 90′s played for guests. We absolutely love the elegant black tie vibe that pairs beautifully with the rustic setting. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that their photos by Brushfire Photography are beyond gorg!

What made the wedding special and unique?

John and I made the tough decision to whittle our guest list down to our very closest friends and immediate family only. Our final head count was 58. 58 people traveled from 13 different states to Phoenix, Arizona (a special place to us) to be a part of our sacred day. In doing this, we managed to create the romantic, intimate setting we had envisioned. This enabled us to spend quality time with each of our guests without losing focus on one another.

What were some touches added to make it personal?

Everyone who knows us, knows we have quite an eclectic taste in music. From Johnny Cash to Tom Petty, contemporary pop to classic rock, we love it all. We wanted to find a band that would compliment our style vs your “typical” wedding band. Our photographers suggested the band “Elvis Before Noon”. Being that we are not from Arizona, we hadn’t ever heard of them. The next day, we found the venue they were performing at and went to hear them live. We walked in the bar hearing the perfect rendition of Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309/Jenny” being sung by 4 of the coolest, best-dressed guys you’ll ever meet! We were sold immediately. Being that the wedding was a short 3 months away, we anxiously reached out to them inquiring their availability. We were shocked to learn they were in fact available. They were able to perform all of our favorite songs, including our first dance, “Stand By Me”, and sounded incredible. Not to mention, having a member of the notable 90′s band “Gin Blossoms” as the head guitarist earned us major “cool points” with our guests!

Tell us about the dress and where/how you found it.

Simply put, I am not that girl who has been planning my wedding my whole life! I did not have the slightest idea of what I wanted when entering the planning process. But strangely enough, I knew exactly what I wanted in a dress. I just didn’t know if it even existed, as I created this dress in my head! I browsed wedding magazine by the stack and searched online like it was my job. My dress was no where to be found. My maid of honor booked some appointments at local boutiques b/c my wedding was only 6 months away and I was still dress-less. She convinced me to put my dream dress on hold and give some other dresses a try.

After a major strike out at the first boutique, we entered the second one with somewhat of a hindered spirit. Alexia’s Bridal, located in the heart of Raleigh, NC is an upscale boutique offering an abundance of dresses. I remained skeptical as we sat down with my consultant. I described exactly what it was I was envisioning. She told me “Normally, I would regretfully tell you we don’t carry anything like that so consider today your lucky day!” Oddly enough, Alexia’s was hosting the Lian Carlo 2014 Fall truck show. Without prior knowledge of this designer, I immediately fell in love with the first dress I tried on. The italian embroidery with swarovski crystals was the perfect combination of intricacy and elegance that I was looking for.

What is the most memorable part of the day?

For both of us, the most memorable part of the day was the moment the over-sized wooden doors of Alegria Gardens were pushed open, and locking eyes between the long isle between us. Our eyes remained on one another the entire ceremony. A powerful, indescribable feeling neither one of us will soon forget.

How did you met.

Shortly after (Ashleigh) moving to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2009 for a job opportunity, a mutual friend of ours decided to play cupid, telling each of us that he had found our “counterpart”. After being introduced and bumping into one another here and there for a few months, we decided to meet up for coffee during a lunch break. Turns out, the mutual friend was right. We have been inseparable ever since.

Tell us about the proposal.

We decide to take a last minute Valentine’s Day getaway to one of our favorite places Phoenix, Arizona. We both love the outdoors and have a very active lifestyle. It was Saturday morning, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful 80 degrees out. Not too bad for mid-February! John suggested we go for a morning hike up Squaw Peak. I agreed that it was the perfect day, there was only one problem. John had just hurt his knee in a cross fit class causing him to walk with a limp for over three weeks! I assured him Squaw Peak would still be there for us to climb on our next trip. He insisted. We were going hiking.

I remained a few strides in front of John for the entire hike (this never happens!), turning around every so often to make sure he hadn’t fallen or decided to bail on me! As we were approaching the top of the mountain, the trail became narrow and signs are posted to “Stay on Trail/Do not Wander off Trail or Climb Rocks”. We took about two steps passed that warning sign when John suggests we “wander off the trail” and “climb” up to an area that looked like a good resting spot/scenic view. So we did just that. We climbed up to a private little area offering a breathtaking view of Arizona. I was taking pictures with my phone from every single angle possible. As I turned around to John, I noticed he was getting down on his knee, the BAD knee! For a split second I thought he was hurt and was going to have to find help-I shortly realized what was really happening. He told me “I can’t think of a better place to ask you this…” and proceeded to ask for my hand in spending the rest of my life with him. That moment, the very single moment, was the most incredible moment of my life. And answering “Yes” to him, was by far the easiest question I’ve ever had to answer.

We love the idea of the bride herself inviting her attendants-to-be out for an intimate luncheon to celebrate friendship. Asking your bests to be in the bridal party is a perfect chance to toast them all (and how cute are those sweet gifts, with paper goods by Ink Nashville)! This fete at Riverwood Mansion, shot by Photographix and styled by Commerce Street Events is as summery as it gets, set in the garden and decorated with pops of red thanks to flowers by Brocade Designs. Bright ideas from Catering & Events by Suzette include a seasonal menu, and fresh strawberry popsicles served in champagne that make for a festive affair! We are absolutely in love with this idea! Anyone else think they would consider hosting a mini luncheon for your bridesmaids-to-be so you can ask them in style???

Ali and Conrad were college sweethearts at Duke University, but careers pulled them apart graduation. Five years later, they reunited and eventually became engaged on campus where they first met! With Chapel Hill Country Club as the setting for the big day, we love that the pair insisted guests have a memorable and relaxing evening (think pre-ceremony cocktail hour with a jazz trio!). Ali’s gorgeous bridesmaids all chose their own gowns, and we’re pretty much OBSESSED with their glow! We also love how the wedding date–June 21st–was the Summer Solstice, set the theme for the wedding design, carried out by Erin McLean Events. The images by Graham Terhune are absolutely breathtaking and we know you’re going to love the details Ali shared with us!

What made your wedding special and unique?

It was important to Conrad and I that the entire wedding weekend was memorable and enjoyable for our guests — great food, great wine and great entertainment were paramount! To start the night off on a lively note, we decided to switch up the typical order of events by hosting an all out cocktail hour before the ceremony. Instead of being ushered directly to a chair, guests were able to relax and mingle on the patio over drinks and passed hors d’ouvres – with a jazz trio playing in the background.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

Dress shopping was one of my favorite parts of the entire wedding experience. There were SO many beautiful gowns, exquisite fabrics, amazing designers, subtle details and striking fits that it was nearly impossible to narrow my search to THE one. In the end, I chose an unconventional approach that allowed me to blend the best of all worlds – blending an incredible 19-layer tulle Monique Lhullier skirt with a strapless lace overlay cocktail dress, which was worn as a ‘corset’ initially – and later without the skirt as a short dress for our “getaway” (we actually just drove around the parking lot)! I loved the idea of mixing the aesthetic of a classically elegant gown with the fun surprise of an edgier party dress for the end of the night.

What were some touches added to make it personal?

I worked with a jewelry designer to create bracelets for the bridesmaids. They each picked their own dresses (which was a bit of a gamble but turned out PERFECTLY – the girls were stunning) and this detail provided an intimate note of unity. Another thing that was special and personal to us was the DATE: June 21st — The Summer Solstice — The 1st day of Summer — and also (not-entirely-coincidentally) my half-birthday! The Sun & Solstice theme was woven throughout the wedding – from the sunburst image on the invitations to the song choices to menu which featured fresh, local June fare. I’m already thinking about planning the 2nd Annual Summer Solstice party in 2015….

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The weather was ALMOST a disaster – the morning of the wedding forecast a 60% chance of tropical storms. Sure, we had a tented ‘rain plan’ but even that would have been pretty soggy…. The sky looked ominous all day but thankfully started to clear up just as our guests began to arrive for the cocktail hour. I walked down the aisle to the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” and – as though on cue – the clouds parted just as I stepped outside.

Tell us how you met and became engaged!

Conrad and I met and dated while we were undergrads at Duke University. After graduation, we parted ways (he for Vail and NYC, me for Washington DC) for about 5 years before finding one another again – and the rest is history! After a wonderful week with my family at the beach, we stopped through Durham for the night on the way home to DC. It was a beautiful evening and Conrad suggested a stroll around campus before our late dinner reservation. He proposed directly below the arch of a quad where we both lived Sophomore year. It was a beautiful moment and I could not be more grateful to the random passerby who had the foresight to capture this picture from afar!

Our bride from today, Marissa, is a wedding photographer, so you can only imagine how difficult it was for her to plan her own big day! Marissa and her beau, Bronson, were married at Pala Mesa Resort and made sure to incorporate their love of family into the gorgeous day. Not only did family pitch in their talents to make the day special, but they also incorporated many family heirlooms into the decor for an even more personal touch! This is most definitely a vintage meets modern wedding–with a classically modern black and white palette and a subtle touch of antique pieces to add a personal flair! Today’s images by Matt Edge are going to totally grab you!

What made the wedding special and unique?

As a wedding photographer myself, I’ve seen so many different styles of weddings. There are so many gorgeous ideas out there, so it was difficult to decide on how I wanted MY own wedding to look! It was important to my fiancé that our wedding also reflected his style preferences (“nothing too whimsical or shabby chic”…ha!), so we decided on an elegant, classic look with some vintage touches. My husband and I are both Christians, as are our families, so it was important to us to incorporate our beliefs into our ceremony. We had our pastor share the gospel with our guests during the ceremony, and my husband and I also took communion. Our guests told us, “This wedding is so you guys!” which was wonderful to hear. We wanted the day to represent us and portray the love that we have for one another.

Tell us about your dress and where/how you found it!

I had seen this particular dress online and the only store I could find it at was a bridal shop in Glendale, CA called Karoza Bridal. I wasn’t too sure if the store would be my style, but I really wanted to try on that dress. When we got to the store, they pulled that one dress I had my eye on, but we also looked around at some of the other dresses. My 13-year-old cousin found a dress for me and wanted me to try it on. It was the first dress I tried on, and it was absolutely stunning! Everyone was in awe! I tried on a few more dresses, including the one I came to the store for, but nothing compared to the first dress! The ivory lace and delicate beading were just so pretty, and the dress didn’t seem to overwhelm my petite frame.

What were some touches added to make it personal?

The majority of the decor was either handmade or from my parents’ home. (My mom is extremely talented in interior design!) The tablecloths on several of the tables were from my great grandmother’s dowry. My husband and I aren’t huge fans of cake, so we had just a tiny cake to cut, and then we had a giant dessert bar. My grandmother brought authentic Italian desserts to have as part of the dessert table (I’m 50% Italian, 25% Greek, and 25% Scottish!, so this was special). Each guest got a box to take home goodies in. There was not a single dessert left at the end of the night! On some of the tables, we had old pictures of our relatives, including my great-great grandmother’s wedding picture. My husband and I are both quite musical, so we wanted to incorporate our love of music into our wedding. We had a string quartet play during the ceremony and we had a family friend sing and play guitar during the cocktail hour.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

For me, the most memorable part of the day was when the DJ played YOU AND I by Ingrid Michaelson as the last song of the night. Our family and friends formed a circle around us as we danced. Everyone clapped along and sang, and I just remember having the goofiest, happiest smile on my face. For my husband, he says the most memorable part of the day for him was, “When you were getting nervous and I rubbed your hands and told you it was ok.” Super sweet!

How did you two meet?

Bronson and I met in Algebra II class during our sophomore year of high school – 9 years ago! We hit it off right away; however, we were both in silly high school relationships at the time. Bronson’s parents wondered why he would always talk to me on the phone instead of his girlfriend. And, my mom knew Bronson had a crush on me when he came over and played “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt over and over again. Within a few weeks, our other relationships fizzled (as high school relationships often do). And, within a few more weeks, Bronson and I were staying after school for “math tutoring.” We were really just hanging out and sneaking in a few kisses here and there. We fell for each other hard and fast. To this day, we still have that undeniable chemistry and will look for any excuse to take a break from our busy lives just to spend some time together (and sneak in some kisses).

Tell us how you became engaged!

In May of 2012, Bronson and I drove up to San Francisco to photograph my friend’s wedding. On Friday, the day before my friend’s wedding, Bronson and I ventured around the city and spent the day sightseeing. Near the end of the day, Bronson wanted to go “scope out” a place on the beach for the romantic evening we had planned for Sunday, the day after my friend’s evening. Bronson and I walked along the shore, just enjoying the beautiful view and each other’s company. We were the only ones on the beach. We came across this big log and sat down. To the left was the Golden Gate Bridge with the sun setting behind it. The view was just stunning! Bronson and I were just talking and laughing. Then, he said, “Babe, I have a question for you.” He then proceeded to get down on one knee. He pulled out a beautiful ring from his pocket and said, “Marissa Andronicos, will you marry me?” Of course, I said, “Yes!”
