Happiest of Mondays!!! Today, we are so excited to be featuring Chris and Jessica’s gorgeous San Diego wedding shot by Lane Dittoe. We’re particularly fond of their love story, which started out as so many modern fairytales do these days: online. Their Hawaii proposal a few years later lead to a San Diego wedding at Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa designed by Michele Woodcock of Before I Do Events with florals by Annette Gomez. We love the rustic romantic vibe! This wedding is a great example of how much character you can add to a ballroom, by getting creative!
Tell us how you met/proposed:
We met as many young adults do on the glorious interweb, specifically, eHarmony in December 2009. Our first date was to the K’ya restaurant in the Casa Del Camino Hotel in Laguna Beach, CA. That first date’s refreshing open and honest discussion about past relationships and future aspirations set the tone for the open lines of communication which are the foundation of our partnership. We subsequently never left each others’ side. Our love and friendship continued to grow as we traveled abroad to southern Italy in the summer of 2010. There we collected thousands of memories, photographs, and stories to last a lifetime. The following summer in Kauai, HI we solidified our love and made plans to marry. The very first night of our trip, Chris knelt to one knee and asked me to be his wife! Second best day of my life- the wedding takes the cake!
What made the wedding special and unique and personal?
When planning our wedding we wanted it to be something that represented us a couple: elegant, warm, and a total blast! We always imagined getting married on an estate and the Estancia Hotel and Resort embodied that feeling we were searching for. With Estancia’s Rancho California style, Hispanic influences and endless gardens, we knew our San Diego and Texas guests would feel right at home. Our goal was to create a romantic yet rustic feel to compliment the venue and our personalities. Guests that came were not surprised as it was a great blend of the two of us!
What was the most memorable part of the day?
We couldn’t imagine a better team than planner Michele Woodcock of Before I Do Events and florist Annette Gomez to make our dream a reality. The combination of gorgeous blush pink flowers, lots and lots of mercury glass and endless candlelight set the tone for our beautiful evening. We found some amazing pieces from Found Vintage Rentals to help create an inviting, comfortable, yet classy and elegant reception area. The setting and the feel of the reception was really a dream come true!
