Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

My dress was from Australian designer Karen Willis Holmes. It’s called the Caitlyn gown. I left the dress shopping a little late as I just had a baby girl in March. A lot of dresses weren’t an option. I went to two shops and new that KWH was where I would find the one. My dress wasn’t what I thought I would buy but I fell in love! How many times in your life do you get to where a fully sequined gown??!

What made the wedding special and unique?

Our wedding was special and unique to us. It was relaxed and beautiful. We love this time of year when the Jacarandas are out in bloom and the weather is perfect! We wanted a small intimate reception with amazing food and that’s exactly what Spring provided. I really enjoyed doing a lot of DIY things for the wedding from all the flowers at the reception to making the watercolor name place cards. And my cake! The day before I thought I was having a massive cake disaster but it turned out amazing in the end!

What were some touches added to make it personal?

We designed and made a lot of the wedding decor, including the wedding cake! I made most of the ceremony floral arrangements and the children’s floral wreaths. We let live butterflies free after the ceremony. We had our children involved in the ceremony as much as possible.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The most memorable part of the day was the whole thing! The excitement on our 3 year old daughter’s face when she was all dressed and ready to walk down the aisle. Little sweetheart!

My uncle is an old Broadway actor and he sang us a song at the reception which was amazing!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Kieran and I met after and AFL game in Brisbane 7 years ago. I’m pretty sure we were destined to be together after we crossed paths again 2 weeks after this in Auckland, New Zealand.

Our engagement was a bittersweet moment for us. I lost a very close friend in a car accident a week earlier, it was her birthday on the 8th of June. I went down to the garage in our house and was looking for a photo album with her in it-and I found my engagement ring!!! It unfolded from there! It turned a pretty sad day into an amazing memory and I will always thank Amy for that! I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
