Melanie and Christian reside in Zurich, Germany, and planned a wedding at Maisenburg near their hometown. Tell us about your gown and where/how you found it.
That was surprisingly easy. After browsing the web for months and getting a bit nervous about it, my mother, my twin brother and I just went into a bridal store in Zurich (where we live). I only tried five dresses and felt this was the one! My mother’s and brother’s eyes both told me they felt the same way. It was just perfect!
What made the wedding special and unique?
Definitely the ceremony, which was outside – although it was raining. The rain drumming on the canopy created a very unique and romantic atmosphere.
What were some touches added to make it personal?
We did a lot of DIY projects: First of all the whole stationery, which we designed and handcrafted ourselves. For example, we made icons for each city our family and friends were coming from. My mom painted beautiful signs to guide the guests and a friend of mine tailored a wonderful garland, which decorated the ceremony and the entrance to the estate. And since I am a cake and sweets lover (which everyone knows about), the sweet table was a very personal thing, too.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
Saying yes for the rest of our life to each other, of course! And dancing with all our family and friends on the dance floor – magnificent!

Tell us how you met and became engaged!
We met as far back as school, 14 years ago. We’ve been a couple ever since. We became engaged on our 13th anniversary during a vacation in Koh Samui, Thailand. Christian proposed to me after a romantic dinner in a restaurant on a cliff high above the sea. I didn’t need to think about it a second and said yes!
