Jan18 Lessons in Red: Nouveau Romantics 2011

Thanks to the absolutely delight Joy Cho of Oh Joy! I was kindly introduced to the work of Elizabeth Lewis, the Austin-based designer behind The Nouveau Romantics. I thought today I’d feature a few of my favorite images from her blog (shot by The Nouveau Romantics and The Nichols). Here, Elizabeth gives us a little lesson in how to treat red–a lovely color with more friends than I think you realize.

I absolutely love the last table! What kind of fabric is the table cloth? I want something just like it for my wedding in June.

Just gorgeous. I love how versatile these arrangements are – I can see them equally at home in a rustic barn wedding, a tartan castle affair, or in an art-deco event. (Wishing I had that first bouquet on my dining room table, actually!)

thank you all for such kind words! what a nice surprise this tuesday…

and raquel: the tablecloth is actually just a ream of natural linen, however, you can often rent similar ones through rental companies (I did for our cake table for our wedding), or else painting drop cloths come in canvas and are generally pretty darn affordable!

and jess: those are exactly the thoughts I hope to inspire – going beyond rustic, and always adaptable. a castle would be killer!

Megan – the doily papers are from the scrapbooking section of Michael’s. You could probably find some similar things by just googling diecut papers via scrapbooking websites. Good luck!
