I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Hey guys! Today, I’m excited that we are featuring a fellow blogger’s wedding! Cathleen (and her husband Tyler) from Donut Soup were wed in a really indie style Palm Springs wedding. Everything is personal, unique, and really inspirational! I’m gonna let Cathleen share all the details with you while you enjoy these photos, perfectly matched for their style by Blue Window Creative (love these guys!).

Location:
The Horizon Hotel, Palm Springs, CA

Dresses:
One day before Tyler asked me to marry him, I saw a beautiful dress hanging in a vintage shop in Portland. I took a photo and never thought about it again. I went back down to Los Angeles and showed my boss a picture. Being the savvy shopper she was, she told me I just HAD to call them to see if they still had it. Long story short, I did call, they had it, I bought it for $135 at Magpie and it fit like A GLOVE. The only alterations I had done was bringing the ruffle sleeves up and taking the neck line lower. DREAM.

My second dress was designed after a vintage Versace slip dress I saw at a vintage Expo. My sister and my mom conducted the entire thing after I picked out the fabric from a fabric store in Downtown L.A.

Flowers:
A friend and I went to the L.A. Flower Mart and picked out flowers I thought were pretty a month before hand. She picked them up for me the day before the wedding, and family friends took over on the morning of, and put together the most beautiful arrangements, boutonnières and ALL our bouquets. It was more than I could have
imagined!

Décor:
Instead of spending a fortune on renting furniture, we had a friend make a prototype of a bench, and my father-in-law had them all made, along with slipcovers. We wanted our wedding to have a cocktail/lounge feeling without being too stuffy. After the ceremony, all the benches were moved around the pool into small lounge areas, so that everyone could hang out comfortably.

I collected teal glassware from the moment I was engaged, right up to the wedding. I had amazing friends and family that would buy things for me if they saw it, so it meant even more when I saw those pieces filled with flowers at the wedding.

Food:
All the desserts were homemade by selected friends and family that I had asked months before hand. I also have an obsession with donuts, so my father-in-law contacted Krispy Kreme and had several dozen mini-donuts made just for me. They were incredible. The dessert table was empty before I could get to it!

Also, a close friend who makes cakes on the side made our wedding cake. I showed her pictures of what I thought was pretty, and she did just that! We still have the top of our cake in our freezer…spice cake with almond butter cream frosting! YUM!
