Mar15 Summer Camp Wedding 2011

Kaylin and Josh have one of those unique, once-in-a-lifetime stories. They are childhood friends and eventually fell in love–which rarely happens (even in romantic comedies). I have to say, I think their choice of venue works pretty nicely with their story–the chapel in the woods is reminiscent of summer camp. And don’t we all know, it doesn’t get better than a summer camp crush? Especially one that you get to keep?

Check out all the gorgeous lovelies shot by Jessica Velarde.

  • postcards and pretties on March 15, 2011

so soft & pretty…love the charming “camp chapel” sign

  • What a fabulous wedding venue–with that awesome chapel-in-the-forest and that bright and airy reception hall! Love the little touches, like the tables named after trees and the muted shades of the bridesmaids’ dresses.

  • Beautiful! Two questions: 1. Where is this camp? 2. Where are the bridesmaid dresses from? :) xo

  • Aileen@Love&Lavender on March 15, 2011

LOVE this! The ceremony site is perfect, and the bridesmaid dresses are too!

  • Kaylin W on March 15, 2011

    Hi Shannon of ** Happiness Is…** ,
The location was Camp Campbell in the Santa Cruz mountains (Boulder Creek, CA).
And the bridesmaid dresses were from different places. From the picture of the girls walking: The light sea foam one was from JCrew, the cream one with ruffles on top was brought over from Thailand, the greyish-lavender one with thin straps was from Urban Outfitters, and the last one was from Forever 21. :)

      Yay! Thanks so much Kaylin!!!

  • Elizabeth on March 15, 2011

Can you tell me if the bride’s dress is a WTOO dress called Marguerite??? I’m curious because I ordered this dress blindly without being able to try it on locally and I’m just hoping it looks as gorgeous on me as it does the bride in this wedding:) Thanks so much!

    • Grey on March 15, 2011

Hey Elizabeth! I definitely know it’s a Watters and Watters dress, but not sure about the exact style name!

  • Kaylin W on March 15, 2011

Good eye Elizabeth! I was trying to find the style this morning and your right about it being Marguerite. The picture on the site doesn’t do it justice at all. The sheath under the English netting has flower bursts to match the bottom. It really is a pretty dress (and surprisingly comfortable!).
I will say though, that hemming it was difficult (but it got done, so don’t fret!) . I’m 5’6 and was wearing a 2in heel and it was STILL too long. My seamstress removed the flowers on the bottom, cut it, and sewed them back on. But hopefully your taller than me with higher heels!! Best of luck! :)

    This warmed my heart!
My fiance and I met through Camp and will also be married in its’ Chapel at the end of this summer. I loved this post, you had a gorgeous day!

such an adorable venue! adorable couple too!

  • Sarah ( A Paper Proposal ) on March 15, 2011

That venue is so beyond amazing! So beautiful, you don’t need to do anything to it, really.

  • Elizabeth on March 15, 2011

Kaylin….yay! I could pick that dress out anywhere I looked at it so much online. The store I ordered it from suggested ordering it with a “hallowed hem” (I think that’s what it’s called) so that they made it shorter and didn’t have to hem the beautiful lace. I’m 5′ 6″ and my fiance is not much taller than me, so heels aren’t an option :) I’m glad it was a comfortable dress!

  • Margaux on March 15, 2011

Just found this site from daily candy!! Such great ideas and images. I’m getting married in Ireland in Sept. and need some inspiration for ideas re: favors, table arrangements, themes, and fun things for the guests. The venue is a country inn/hotel and they set up room with the very basics–I would love to figure our ways to make it more unique and special. Does anyone have any ideas of where to start looking?
    Thanks!!

Deborah…I’d say blogs are the best place to look for inspiration! There are so many ideas that each blog posts on a daily basis, so it’s the best place to start! Happy hunting! :)
