Jan23 A Twitter Wedding at Silverado Resort 2012

Merry Monday! Today we are feature one of our favorite types of weddings–one where the couple comes up with creative ways to express their personalities. Devon and Ryan thought up wonderfully brilliant ideas to incorporate their hometown roots, favorite foods, and even Ryan’s job! If you’ve ever wondered how a twitter employee might make a nod to his company, check out their place cards, which feature Twitter handles instead of names. They even included the hash tag #LOVE on their dessert table!

Lots more lovely images, ideas, vendors, and a great description from Devon below! Special thanks to onelove photography for sharing their beautiful work with us!

We wanted our wedding to showcase our personalities – we’re total tech dorks. Ryan works at Twitter and most of our friends are in the tech space as well. Our programs and menus had everything listed by Twitter handles and our name cards were also by twitter usernames. Our favors table had #love in large wooden letters. The overall look and feel was supposed to be relaxed and very New England. Nothing too fancy–simple hydrangeas and snowbells (in lieu of lily of the valleys) were our main flowers and linens were kept very natural as well as the rustic chairs. We wanted people to be comfortable but to see a rustic elegance. In order to make our guests feel welcome we did welcome boxes with Ryan’s family recipe of homemade chex mix and salt water taffy from Maine.

Ryan and I are both transplants to Northern California and we wanted our wedding to reflect where we came from, him from Michigan and myself from Maine. We flew in Lobster Bisque from our favorite restaurant in my hometown. We ended the meal with white chocolate covered cherries from Michigan. The highlight of the menu was our favors–whoopie pies–a Maine staple that were handcrafted by one of our favorite food carts in San Francisco that encompassed our two homestates. Steven, the vendor and our dear friend tells the story of the Matching Half Gobs on his blog here!

Also at the ceremony we had our french bulldog, Stella, as the best dog, who despite being very well behaved generally attempted to pull my dress off mid-vows. Our ceremony was also officiated by one of our best friends. We wrote our own vows that not only reflected our love but also our dorky sense of humor and love of tech.

Check out the place cards, which denote attendees twitter names instead of first names!

Jan05 Meridian Vineyards Wedding by Cameron Ingalls 2012

We are major fans of vineyard weddings. What’s not to love about celebrating your wedding among the vines, in Dionysus fashion. All this warm dreamy light was captured by one of our fave photographers, Cameron Ingalls, who always shoots the loveliest weddings. We especially love the unexpected bridesmaid dresses, which add just the right touch of color.

From our lovely bride, Michelle: My mom & I have came up with most of the ideas for the wedding and made a lot the decor ourselves. Collecting pieces here & there and mixing them with home made items….it has really come along way and come together quite nice. We envision the wedding day as nice summer day, picnic-esque….relaxing for all our guests. All the tables are unique and different from one another, making it fun for everyone to see all the details that went into everything. We also envision a huge dance party, lots of laughs and good times.

Dec13 The Dent House Wedding With Kurt Boomer Photo 2011

This week, Lady Grey is the luckiest blogger on the block. We’ve landed the prettiest wedding around: Emmanuelle and Ari’s Ojai wedding at The Dent House. These stunning stunning stunning (triple attack adjectives…they’re better than caps lock) wedding shot by Kurt Boomer Photo. We’re sharing insight with you from both Emmanuelle, the bride and Kurt!

Read on, my darlings. Grab a box of tissues for the drool.

From Emma:

As we are both students on a limited budget, this was a complete DIY affair with friends pitching in with everything, from cooking the rehearsal dinner, making the floral arrangements, signs and invitations, picking up cakes, and creating the iPod playlist, to flea market shopping in three cities for vases, cake plates and wooden boxes. Otherwise, we focused on the things that mattered the most to us: good barbeque, music, wine and pastries. We found a wonderful family bluegrass band from Santa Monica to play before the ceremony and during the cocktail hour, and spent a lot of time at BevMo finding a range of wines and ingredients for a ginger beer cocktail. As for the décor, we chose colors that were modern (gray) and matched the property’s abundant citrus trees (orange and yellow). Because the location was so powerful and exquisite on its own, we also didn’t feel the need to overdo it. I bought three kinds of dried flowers I liked from a family farm, and my friend spent all day Saturday making the arrangements.

From Kurt:

The dent house has become one of my new favorite venues. Endless places for portraits with the tranquility only a long mountain drive and remote location can provide. I think I could shoot here all year long and always come up with new shots.
