Lindsey and Bobby’s Ojai Valley Inn & Spa wedding location was unique to their story because they said their “I Dos” under the exact same tree under which they became engaged. Coordinated by Amber Events with some really beautiful florals and greens by Celadon & Celery, the day was elegant and relaxed. We especially love the gorgeous french provincial chairs from Archive Vintage Rentals. Thankfully Miki & Sonja Photography were on hand to capture the lovely rose lighting and classic beauty of the day.
What made the wedding special and unique?
Not many couples can say they were married in the exact same spot where they got engaged. But in our love story, we can. To stand under the same tree where he got down on one knee was something truly unique and extra special. I think all the guests could feel that love during our ceremony. It’s such a magical spot and we were so happy our friends and family could share that joyous moment with us.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I always had a vision my wedding dress would be simple, delicate and most of all romantic. Nothing too over the top. I went on Pinterest one afternoon and found a dress that was exactly what I had envisioned. I decided to make my first bridal appointment at Panache Beverly Hills and decided to bring in that photo of the dress I loved. Funny enough they actually had that exact dress in the store. It was the Bertina dress by Pronovias. It was the last dress I tried on that day and I knew it was the one as soon as I put it on. With no hesitation I bought it there on the spot.
What were some touches added to make it personal?
Everyone knows I love love love candles. I really wanted to create a romantic vibe in the ballroom that people could feel as soon as they entered the room. The Ojai Valley Inn exudes romance with all the Spanish accents and I really wanted to keep that theme while incorporating my love for candles. By adding mirrored tables to reflect the candlelight and using only white flowers my vision came to life and exceeded all my expectations. Amber Events and the help from my planner, Nina Luna, we were able to keep my style the whole way through without interfering with the natural beauty of the hotel. It really was one of the most romantic settings I have ever seen.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
Hands down the most memorable moment of the day was the first look that took place before the ceremony. Bobby and I had been separated all day and I could hardly wait for him to see me in my dress. He had no idea what it looked like and I had been anxiously anticipating this moment all morning. He was waiting for me on the gorgeous golf course when I sneaked up behind him. When he turned around and saw me for the first time my heart simply melted. That moment will be etched in my heart forever.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
Bobby and I met through a friend and started a solid friendship that lasted for several months. It all changed for me when Bobby told me he was being set up on a blind date and I remember being completely filled with jealously. I had that classic moment of “Do I like Bobby?” And the answer was yes! I didn’t just like Bobby but I realized that I really loved him and I wanted to be the one he was with. After both coming clean with our true feelings we decided to go on a proper date and the rest was history. Fast-forward 3 years, Bobby decided to take me to Ojai Valley Inn for a last minute overnight getaway. We checked into the hotel and took a long walk around the exquisite property until we came across their famous tree. After soaking in the view for a few minutes Bobby decided to surprise me with an early Christmas gift. I opened the gift to find the perfume I love but the real gift was the brilliant cut diamond ring hidden inside. He then got down on one knee and proposed. 10 months later we got married in the exact same spot :)
