I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Gareth and Jennie’s New Zealand wedding is filled to the brim with organic, simple, and imaginative details! Our favorite element is the banner flags that lined the walkway to lead guests to the ceremony area. What a way to get your guests in the spirit of celebration! Very special thanks to Lavara Wedding Photography for sharing her beautiful images! Enjoy, darlings.

From the bride:

Gareth and I met in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2008 whilst on our OE’s (the name kiwi’s affectionately refer to when talking about travel abroad). The strong sense of nostalgia we shared for home pulled us firmly together and four years later our wedding was held on the 14th January 2012 at my family home. We had initially decided on a festival theme inspired by our love of music and festivals we’d experienced in our travels. This theme then evolved as I began collecting an array of treasures from antique and second hand stores. Being an Art teacher I wanted to create decorations that were handcrafted and one of a kind. Using traditional printmaking methods we painstakingly and individually printed over one hundred invitations in my classroom on weekends!

The day was filled with such support and love with the combination of our two families who have grown heartwarmingly close throughout the planning of the wedding. We are fortunate to have two very determined Mothers who put hours of effort into both catering the food but also transforming the garden into a place of true serenity and happiness. Here in New Zealand we have experienced one of the wettest summers on record and I’m sure we were one of many couples who felt the pain of having to accept the need for a plan B for their outdoor weddings! Although we had to move our marquee to avoid surface flooding and the beautiful wildflowers were near destroyed, incredibly the day produced a longed-for few hours of brilliant sunshine that was timed perfectly to my walk down the aisle! The mud on the dance floor coupled with a dress up box of ridiculousness, which lasted till 4:30am, topped off a day that by far surpassed anything that we could have ever imagined. We are so excited by what’s ahead of us now, strengthened by the knowledge that we are surrounded by the best friends and family that anyone could ever ask for.
