I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Christina and Steve’s playful, laid-back and elegant wedding day took place on the grounds of the historic French Legation Museum. The outdoor ceremony and reception, designed and planned by Eclipse Event Co., included stationed catering by Contigo to encourage guests to mingle and graze, cafe lighting and colorful florals by Disch Events, Northeastern Brazilian dance music by Seu Jacinto and a super-cute dessert table by Green Lily Bakery filled with macaroons, cannolis, and donuts. Christina, a designer, set the fun-loving tone with the art-driven colorful stationery and custom designed pins for all the guests and staff. We’re loving the chill vibe and vibrant details of the day and lucky for us Brittany Jean Photography was on hand to capture it all!

from the planner: Craving a beautiful outdoor venue that could accommodate a large (and I mean large) amount of guests, Christina and Steve opted to celebrate their marriage at the beautiful French Legation Museum. They wanted to be close to the city, but also find a place that fed into Christina’s love for historic buildings; FLM was the perfect spot!

Christina and Steve met through mutual friends (thanks to Craigslist and the Peace Corp, as they put it). Starting their relationship as friends, they eventually moved into colleagues, and now are husband and wife! On December 1st, 2015, Steve flew all the way to NYC to surprise Christina with his proposal.

The French Legation Museum is a wonderfully historic building located in East Austin. It’s the oldest building in the city! They are just getting into the wedding industry, but its blank canvas allows for all sorts of ideas to be created in the space. They only have outdoor space for use, which makes the rain plan a little tricky. Projected to rain all week, we were a little nervous about whether or not to move forward with our tenting option. Christina decided on Wednesday of that week that if it rained, all the guests would just have to dance in the rain! And it definitely paid off. The rain held off all evening until just after send off, which couldn’t have been more perfect.

Wanting to create a playful, laid back, yet elegant experience for their guests, the couple decided to use Contigo for catering and instead of doing a sit down or buffet style dinner, chose to have stations placed around the lawn that would allow guests to mingle, graze, and enjoy the company. They wanted to create an experience for their guests that wasn’t your typical cookie-cutter style of reception.

Disch Events provided the simple, yet perfect aesthetic to the evening through their lighting and floral. Festoon lights were all that was needed to spruce up this space and make it pop. Floral was organic and sustainably sourced, which was important to the couple. Ferns decorated the ceremony space and the dinner stations. The bride’s bouquet was designed based on the natural bend of the stems, which made for an absolutely elegant and unique feel. Small vases with colorful, soft blooms filled the tables, accented by votives and gold tea lights. The space could not have been more beautiful!

Being a designer, Christina created all the stationery for the evening from programs to pins for their guests – which all the staff wore as well to keep the event fun. She mixed bright patterns and fun colors together, which described the couple perfectly and made the wedding completely them.

For dessert, the guests enjoyed macaroons, cannolis, and donuts provided by Green Lily Bakery. Even Steve’s mother brought in some specially wrapped chocolates with the couple’s faces on them for the guests to enjoy! There was no official cake cutting, so guests were invited to enjoy dessert at will, which continued to add to the experience the couple was looking to create.

Guests were quick to hit the dance floor with traditional Northeastern Brazilian music as their backdrop. Seu Jacinto was the perfect addition to this evening! Their fun, exciting vibe created the perfect environment that Christina and Steve were envisioning. At the end of the evening, Seu Jacinto led the entire party through the venue and out the gates to send off Christina and Steve in a pedicab provided by Metrocycle Pedicabs. Then, those who were interested were invited to continue the celebration with the couple at Easy Tiger.

The couple honeymooned later that week by taking a road trip through West Texas. Spending that time adventuring together was the perfect way to start their new life as husband and wife!
