I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Kristine and Phil were the first couple to ever marry at the stylish new venue, The Fig House. And they definitely kicked it off the perfect way. Incredible florals by Honey and Poppies, gorgeous design by Jesi Haack Design, with exquisite tabletop rentals from Casa de Perrin and lots of DIY touches from the bride herself. The couple and planner The Love Riot with Jesi Haack put together so many perfect details, and how amaze are these images by Paige Jones?

What made the wedding special and unique?

When we started wedding planning, there were a lot of decisions that we had to make, which was pretty overwhelming. There were so many options! All we knew was that we wanted something that felt like “us”. When our planner, Amber from the Love Riot, introduced us to the fabulous new venue The Fig House, we felt immediately that it was the perfect fit for us. We were so honored to have the first wedding there and with Jesi Haack’s help, it really set the stage for us to create a day that was an extension of our own personalities as well as our relationship.

Tell us about the dress and where/how you found it!

My dress was a vintage style Rosa Clara Soft sheath dress that I found at Lovely Bride in West Hollywood. It was a chance meeting and I knew at once that it was the one! The dress had been borrowed for a photo shoot that day and was about to be packed for shipping when the sales associate asked me if I wanted to try it on before packing it up. It was exactly what I was looking for – romantic and delicate, with intricate beading and the most beautiful cap sleeves.

What were some touches added to make it personal?

Phil and I both grew up in California but met when we were in graduate school in Arizona – Phil for medical school and myself for pharmacy school. We decided to incorporate some of that history into our escort cards/wedding favors by planting desert succulents into prescription vials!

We were also fortunate enough to have our beautiful engagement photos from Paige Jones turned into some amazing watercolor portraits by my sister. They were experimental at that point and my sister and I worked on them together. They were so well received that my sister (www.keepergoods.com) has expanded to creating them for other families and special events as well!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

One of the things that we really wanted was to have a meaningful and personal ceremony. One of our closest friends officiated the ceremony and it was so natural and heartfelt. We also had one of Phil’s brothers do a light-hearted reading from the children’s book “I Like You” by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. It was amazing to be surrounded by family and so many of our closest friends to witness and also be a part of our ceremony. We could not have asked for anything more.

The out of this world chicken and waffles from Whoa Nelly were pretty memorable as well!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Phil surprised me one Sunday afternoon with a small airplane ride over all of Los Angeles, disguised as an early birthday present. I wasn’t expecting a thing and was enjoying the breathtaking aerial view when he proposed, over the intercom!
