I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Creative directors Crosby + Jon selected Casa Velas, a Spanish-style boutique hotel in Puerta Vallarta for this desitnation vow renewal. The gorgeous grounds of the hotel set the tone for their event—a ceremony over looking the beach followed by alfresco dining in the garden. We’re loving the Mexican Equipale chairs, floral-filled straw bags and a fruit-adorned centerpieces. The look is elegant, yet still casual and definitely somewhere we’d like to be right now! In our latest search for up and coming wedding destinations, our Crosby + Jon team explored the vibrant city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Our mission was to locate a venue that suited the inspiration for this destination editorial – a couple celebrating their marriage with a vow renewal. We were captivated by the lively city, and sought out an intimate venue that was close to the thriving downtown. We found ourselves at the doors of Casa Velas; an estate-like venue that was a short walking distance to the charming city center and just minutes from the beach. Together with renowned film photographer Jeremy Chou and videographer Robert Michael, we designed and captured an elegant and romantic vow renewal for Ollie + Kubie.

The celebrations began at the gorgeous Spanish style boutique hotel. Upon arrival, guests are transported to a hidden oasis of fuchsia bougainvillea and lush tropical gardens. Large archways and white pillars are contrasted by pale yellow stucco throughout the property. Overhead, wrought iron balconies are softened with overgrown flora. Once inside the hotel, an interior facing courtyard sets a tranquil mood with vibrant koi ponds. Around the corner, a casual yet elegant restaurant offers indoor and dining experiences of equally mesmerizing ambiance. To complete the all inclusive amenities, a stunning pool and golf course only added to the appeal for this destination celebration.

To begin, our go-to Mexico makeup and hair guru Zoë Elizabeth added to the natural beauty of our bride Ollie. Glossy waves and a tangerine red lip suited the sleek satin Amsale gown we had selected. We added a little edge to the sophisticated look with a silver body chain of crystal embellishments and sapphire details that draped Ollie’s shoulders and back. Her look was complete with a trinity Cartier ring and ribbon tied heels from Bella Belle. We styled our groom in a similarly elegant fashion with a traditional white tux with black bow tie. Our florist arrived to deliver a bouquet of delicate white florals that we fastened with a long black tulle ribbon.

Before the vow renewal ceremony, Jeremy and Robert captured the couple at our favorite scenic backdrops of Casa Velas. The tropical gardens, romantic pathways and walls of fuchsia bougainvillea perfectly framed the portraits of our stunning couple. With the portraits complete, our couple made their way to the Beach Club where our ceremony design was waiting for them.

The Beach Club is a convenient shuttle ride from the hotel. The beachfront location boasts an expansive terrace and wrought iron balcony with unparalleled ocean views. Florística framed the half circle balcony with green and white tropical florals, with subtle pops of yellow roses. We added rustic oak chairs with linen seats and throws for guests. Transcendental sounds from a solo cello musician and the nearby crashing waves completed the experience for Olli, Kubie and their guests. After the vow renewals were complete, guests enjoyed an afternoon cocktail by the pool.

We eventually made our way back to Casa Velas for the outdoor reception. We wanted the dining experience to remain elegant with select casual design elements so that everyone could relax and enjoy the evening. We joined a long row of tables set with beige linens from Wildflower Linen. Mexican Equipale chairs from Rocco Troyani Rentals and tablescape arrangements of white, green and yellow flora completed the look. Fresh tangerines and lemons added pops of fresh organic colors down the table. Guests dined in the al fresco ambiance and enjoyed local white wine and fresh Mexican cuisine catered by the hotel’s restaurant, Emiliano. For dessert, a lemon tart by Pie in the Sky made for a refreshing final course.

As the sun made its way down the sky casting shadows along the reception, we found ourselves bewitched by the gorgeous scene before us. Jeremy and Robert captured Ollie + Kubie enjoying the elegant celebration of marriage we had envisioned. As designers, Casa Velas offered everything we could ask for to make this an ideal romantic getaway for the couple and guests. The result? A timeless, chic experience we will never forget.
