I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Today we’re sharing Cristin and Jonathan’s flower-filled fete from planners Basic Bash Events to cheer up all those suffering through the recent Spring snowstorm. Bright peaches, pinks and blues excite in the abundant florals by Creating Atmosphere and we love the mix of greenery throughout the ceremony and reception. Ashley Crawford Photography was on hand at NOAH’s of Omaha to capture all the details in these lovely images.

What made the wedding special and unique?

We decided not to see each other until the ceremony began.  It was very important for us to see each other for the first time accompanied by all of our family and friends just moments before we exchanged our vows.  There was so much anticipation and excitement for us leading up to that moment, and it felt so special.  We also wrote our own vows to exchange with each other during the ceremony.  The vows felt very personal and genuine, and even got some laughs from our family and friends.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I found my dress at Rhylan Lang.  I had been following them on Facebook prior to my engagement, and I knew 100% that I wanted to get a gown from their store.  They were so helpful in helping me choose different dresses to try on and made the process very easy and enjoyable.  Going in to looking at dresses, I thought I knew what I wanted in a wedding dress: sleeves, lace, and form-fitting.  Needless to say, my dress was strapless, loose, and didn’t have an ounce of lace.  I knew I had found my dress, and so did all those that I brought along, the moment I put on the dress;  My face just lit up, and I couldn’t stop smiling.  Hayley Paige is truly an amazing designer!

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Writing our own wedding vows, as well as writing the majority of the script for the wedding ceremony were really personal for us.  We also had Jonathan’s cousin as our wedding officiant, which was very special for us.  And we can’t forget to mention that we had our own craft beer that we brewed with my (Cristin’s) family on tap for all of our wedding guests to enjoy.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

It’s hard to choose just one most memorable part of the day because the entire day was more than we could have ever hoped for in a wedding day.  It was amazing to be surrounded with love and support from all of our closest family and friends as we made our life-long commitment to each other.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We met at a party our freshman year of college in 2009, through mutual friends.  After a couple months, we began dating.  Jonathan proposed on November 6, 2015.  We had plans to meet my parents in downtown Omahafor supper.  When we arrived downtown, my sister told us that two of my nieces had come along and they were playing at the park.  As we walked to go meet them, I noticed not just two of my nieces, but all five of them and my two nephews.  They were all holding a sign, and as we inched closer, I was able to make out what the sign said, “Aunt Cristin, will you marry Jon?”  Jonathan got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
