I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Michelle and Julian were married at Catalina’s in Sydney, Australia. With a view that overlooked the water, the pair invited family and friends to join them for their sunset vows and a gorgeous party after–which the bride tells us was a little inspired by a 90’s dance revival with tons of color and plenty of glow sticks bracelets to go around once the dancing started! We absolutely love all the fun of this wedding, shot by Nerida McMurray Photography.

What made the wedding special and unique?

For us, our wedding was a party. We decided to do our photos before the ceremony so we could maximise the amount of time we had to spend with our guests. We decided on a sunset ceremony at Catalina to capture the gorgeous view as dusk rolled in.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I found my dress at Lisa Gowing. It was love at first sight! I had only tried two dresses on before finding my dress but knew I didn’t have to look further. I left the boutique and called my Mum and best friend and told them they had to come and see it for the final tick of approval.

What were some touches added to make it personal?

We added personalised touches to our whole wedding, including naming our tables after ski runs in Aspen where we got engaged, and the boys wore customised cufflinks in the shape of aspen leaves. We used bright, vibrant flowers to represent the joy we felt and danced the night away with a 90s dance music revival – with glow stick bracelets for guests to share.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Our wedding dance! We’d sweated over the dance, hoping to get it right. Thankfully we pulled it off without any mistakes!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We met in July 2009 on RSVP! You could say that online dating is not the most romantic way to start a relationship but we realised how right we were for each other from very early on. We ended up getting engaged in Aspen, Colorado in February 2013. Julian proposed one evening as we shared another memorable trip to our favourite destination (we have been to Aspen every year we have been together).
