How they met: Nick and I were introduced during a typical summer boating trip out on Sebago Lake. Nick’s college roommate happened to be my long time friend from grade school. In the winter of 2009 Nick asked me to help him navigate the basics of getting a tan, in preparation for his upcoming trip to Mexico. He was crafty in finding a way to spend time with me and it eventually led to him asking me out on our first date.

The proposal: Nick and I take an annual trip to Acadia National Park each summer. We spend 4 days camping, hiking, biking, and enjoying the beauty of Maine summer. It is our first tradition that we created together and one that we look forward to every year. During this particular trip we were looking forward to seeing the sunset on Cadillac Mountain, since the year before we had woken up at 4:00am and rushed to the top to see the sunrise. (It is the first place in the US where you can see the sunrise and the view is undoubtedly worth the early wake up time)! While we were walking up Cadillac Mountain to see the sunset, Nick led me down a secluded path where he found a large boulder you could stand on and see above the treeline to view the entire harbor. He held his hand out for me and hoisted me up onto the rock. It was there that he asked me if I would marry him and spend our lives together. That was certainly the most memorable trip to Acadia we have had, but each year we go back to Cadillac Mountain and look forward to reliving that first sunset.
