Cody and Jerome definitely knew they wanted to share an intimate and casual wedding day with family and friends at Jerome’s parent’s California estate. And, we absolutely LOVE the way they did it. Their first choice was an excellent one—they instilled the help of the fabulous Stacy McCain Event Planning, who filled the beautiful backyard affair with joyful details like the an abundance of colorful florals by Studio Mondine, hand-crafted modern-rustic signage and beautiful farm-to-table catering from Farmshop Marin and Hog Island Oysters. It’s perfectly low-key without sacraficing an ounce of style and everything was captured beautifully by Delbarr Moradi.
What made the wedding special and unique?
We got married at Jerome’s parent’s house where we had spent a lot of time during our relationship. We knew that we wanted our wedding to be intimate and causal, so having our wedding at a place where we already had so many memories seemed right to us and really special.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I tried on a lot of dresses and finally found my dress at Claire Pettibone in Los Angeles. They have so many beautiful and unique dresses.
What were some touches added to make it personal?
From the start we knew that we didn’t want a traditional wedding, but still wanted to include our friends and family. We had our friend officiate the wedding and asked some friends and family to share advice or readings that were meaningful to them about love and marriage as part of our ceremony.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
The most memorable part of the day was seeing all of our friends and family together and celebrating with us. The whole day was memorable rather than one single moment! The day went by so fast and we were so happy to have the day captured with such beautiful photographs!
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met in kindergarten! Although we knew each other as children, we went to different schools after 3rd grade and lost touch. We met again 20 years later, right after I moved from New York to California and right before Jerome moved from California to New York. After about a year of super long distance, I moved to Boston and we started 3 years of countless bus and train rides as we split our time between two amazing cities. We became engaged during a trip to Provincetown in Cape Cod while watching the sunset. In 2014, we finally lived in the same city and even attended the same school!
