Maya is an award-winning lifestyle documentary photographer. She has been honored by the Wedding Photojournalists Association and Wedding Wire’s 2011 Brides Choice and her wedding images have been published in the New York Times Style section, Newsweek, Los Angeles Times Magazine, Syracuse Post Standard special Weddings Feature, California Wedding Wave and Style Me Pretty. Aside her images, Maya is best recognized for her intuitive energy and personable nature. She can be silent and unobtrusive, or vibrant with humor and energy and in any given environment she captures human expression and translates it into a dynamic image and moving narrative.

IN MAYA’S WORDS

As a documentary photographer and photojournalist, it is my job to be an observer and a storyteller. It is my passion however for the human condition, emotions, relationships, LOVE, that draws me to photograph weddings.

The secret to capturing moments is compassion. Anyone can pick up a camera and learn how to use it. I’ve been making photographs since I was a teenager, but it was only when I really learned my personal strengths through my documentary work, educational projects and my first weddings, that I realized where the gift that I can give really lies.

The greatest joy received when images are delivered is hearing the words ‘when I look at these I can feel how I felt on my wedding day’.
