Aug05 Popsicle Round Up For Your Summer Wedding 2011

Happy Friday!

I thought I’d send you off on your weekend with some popsicle ideas for your summer wedding. I REALLY love the idea of making popsicles out of cocktails. Imagine guests being offered petite strawberry margarita popsicles (from Baker’s Royale) while they soak in the warm summer sun during cocktail hour. Brills. Putting tags on the popsicle sticks to customize them…wow. Even more amazing idea from With Style and Grace.

Also, for a really simple approach, how about the popsicles in champagne glasses via Southern Living? Oh…or, if you want to use them for a shower, even popsicle themed invites from Martha Stewart!

LOVE the last image of a bride and groom with popsicles shot by Kristyn Hogan. Adorbs.

Go make some cocktail popsicles over the weekend and we’ll see you back here, nice and refreshed, Monday morning.

Jun14 Cake Fashion Welcomes Chevron Stripes 2011

Melissa and Jason’s wedding at the Luxe Hotel in Bel-Air has everything a modern bride could hope for: clean florals, dark grey architectural lines, plenty of white, and chevron stripes. These little babies are all the rage, so that cake’s cool factor is through the roof. She’s like the popular girl in high school…who wears everything before it becomes too popular. Oh, Chevron Cake. Teach me your ways of vogue.

Such a cool cake must be by the one and only, Melody of Sweet and Saucy. She’s always up for knocking our socks off. When you see all this modern goodness, it means, of course, that Carissa of JL Designs and Events MUST be involved. She’s all things modern, and these succulent pretties scream California luxe. And where would we be without the ever fabulous Meg Perotti, who shot these gorg images! Coordination was by LRS Event Planning.

Jun08 Shoot This Not That Recap (Part One) 2011

I’m so excited to finally be able to share with you all the details and images from my first ever workshop, Shoot This Not That! We hosted the three day experience up in Napa and Sonoma, which made for an absolutely stunning backdrop!!! I was so ridiculously lucky that the girls from The Collection Event Studio, up in Sonoma reached out to get involved. They really made everything come together perfectly, and it’s really a testament to finding great resources like theirs (which is a wedding library of sorts) because they were able to make great suggestions for vendors, eateries, and everything else you can possibly imagine. (Perfect for planning a destination wedding! *hint hint).

There are so many vendors that I’m excited to tell you about, and I could not begin to express how thankful I am for each of them for joining in the fun. Buckle your seat belts. We’re gonna take things slow, but I’ve got lots to share with you over the next few days, starting off with some of the gorgeous images from the shoot. These beauties were kindly provided by some of our lovely photographer attendees (who took a leap of faith on our first workshop…I could not be more grateful!): Kelly Hornberger, Lori Paladino, Deborah Zoe and Marin Kristine.

First up, check out a few images of our hosts, Scribe Winery (dream venue for intimate gatherings) which has so many rustic details just laying around you might call it a “photographer’s dream”.

Our color story for the photo shoot revolved around neon yellow. It was a bit of a challenge getting the idea to still feel bridal, but thanks to the insanely talented florist, Lidia of La Fleuriste, it all really came together beautifully.

I was SOOO excited to get to meet Amanda from One True Love Vintage Rentals (she’s one of our Grey Likes Vendors!). She drove in from San Francisco with some beautiful rental pieces that made everything look perfect. And that gorg cake is by Inticing Creations.

We were also lucky to have some killer hair and make-up artists come in for us! Stella rocked our model’s hair while Audrey did a smashing job with the make-up. Thank you ladies!

Megan from Mae Mae Paperie provided all of our paper design. You’ll see more of the paper in our next few posts, because she did a crazy fabulous job.

Later this week, we’ll share more from our class time at The Collection Event Studio (which is the most rad wedding store/vendor library/anthropologie-gone-love-situation you’ll ever see). We’ll also take a peek at our styled wine dinner, show you some of the places we got to grub (because food found it’s place of ultimate perfection when it came to Napa), share with you some great testimonials, and of course, keep it all going with the pretty details and awesome vendors. So stay tuned!

Jun07 Great Gatsby Weds 2011

I was smitten the very moment I saw the words Great Gatsby. What’s even more, these images by Gavin Wade more than live up to the expectation of such a weighty title. I mean…it’s Great Gatsby. Anyone who has ever read the book has reveled in all the vintage socialite goodness, so using Fitzgerald for an inspiration wedding shoot could not be more of a dream come true. Styled by Gloria McCune of Grand Engagements, with insanely gorgeous flowers by Heavenly Blooms, this team of vendors (including the beautiful cake by My Sweet and Saucy) takes place at the most perfect location: Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site in Long Beach. Check out more of the rad vendors below that helped put together all this lovely Gatsby goodness.
