Nov21 A Rustic Thanksgiving 2011
I hope you are as excited as I am about Thanksgiving this Thursday! Bryan and I have a long list of dinners and brunches to attend and for the first time ever, I’m hosting my very own, very small, Thanksgiving dinner. I’ve been on the hunt for a little Thanksgiving inspiration, so we’ll be sharing some of our favorite finds with you this week! First up today is this rustic Thanksgiving shoot with florals and styling by Honey and Poppies, heirloom place settings and food styling by Casa de Perrin, and photography by Braedon Flynn. This shoot was originally featured over on Design Sponge, however we’ve got lots of extra images to share with you to get you inspired!
To get us in the holiday spirit, I’d love for you to share one of your favorite Thanksgiving traditions or even your favorite dish you look most forward to! I’d say for me, my favorite part about Thanksgiving is spending the entire day in the kitchen with my mom, sisters, and brother-in-law, Taylor, who cooks up a storm. There’s something about cooking and great conversation that goes so well together! And I know it might sound silly, but I always really look forward to homemade cranberry sauce! Mmmm…

Honey and Poppies : design and florals (which included lots of vintage mixed metal vessels filled with foraged leaves along with dahlias, roses, and berries, a hanging installation of crabapple branches, mini bouquets for the placecards, and a mantle styled with many types of pumpkins and squash) // J and R Foods: menu design and cooking // Casa de Perrin: heirloom placesettings and food styling // Found Vintage Rentals: design and furniture // Pitbulls and Posies: lasercut paper goods based on the idea of a modernized deconstructed quilt // Braedon Flynn: photography // Carondelet House: location // Dovetail: coordination
Jan04 Goddess of the Hunt 2011
I wanted to start the day off with a very exciting announcement. Grey Likes has welcomed a new regular contributor to our team: Megan from MaeMae Paperie. Megan consistently blows me away with her creative, modern, edgy, and unexpected ideas. Her inspiration boards are always show stoppers and I really can’t get enough of her rad ideas. First up is an inspiration board for her upcoming line: Artemis-Goddess of the Hunt. Each of Megan’s lines have their own unique character with boat loads of personality built in.
Later this week, we’ll be debuting some exciting inspiration for a Riviera Maya photo shoot that’s in the works. Get excited! Good things in store!
From Megan:
This is my favorite collection theme thus far: the goddess Artemis (or Diana for you lovers of Latin – that would be me). She reigns over the forest, moon, and hunting and is the perfect mix between masculine + feminine.
1. This image is so haunting and magical. Brilliant Rodarte. does it again.
2 / 5 / 8. New illustrations / type combination for this collection.
3. Gorgeous vintage book cover.
4. Forest royalty. Get your own here.
6. Goddess of the moon.
7. Modern day Artemis / Diana. Pretty much all of J. Mendel’s spring collection is.
9. Get ready for MaeMae wax seals. That’s so Roman. SORRY. DON’T KNOW THE IMAGE’S SOURCE.
10. I need about 20 spools. And they aren’t even selling them anymore. boo.
11. Major love for this logo.
Nov29 Autumn Romance 2010
First off, a big congratulations to any of you new readers who were recently engaged over the holiday week! So exciting!
Before we dive head first into winter inspiration, we’ve got some gorgeous fall goodies to finish out November. This styled shoot brought together a group of British Columbia vendors and I had to wait until you were settled back at work to hit you with this romantic color.
Photographer Mikaela Ruth put together an amazing team, and of course, is responsible for catching all these beautiful images! Colleen Sawatsky of Vintage Home, styled the look of the shoot, with the help of Whitney Barkman, who whipped up these pretty concoctions. On the menu? Macaroons with raspberry ganache, and chocolate cupcakes and chocolate layer cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Kari of Confetti Floral designed all the gorgeous florals (do fall colors get any more lovely?) and Ashley King of Wedded Bliss styled the beautiful bride. Magdalene of Saar Bank Farms rent their gorgeous barn for weddings and receptions and graciously gave the team free reign of the place. The barn is fully booked for 2011! But for inquiries beyond next year are happily accepted!
