Feb20 East Coast Meets Wine Country 2012
Oh dear. One of our dear photog friends, Lori Paladino sent over a wedding that is going to stop you in your tracks! Whenever we meet a groom with a bold sense of style, it’s pretty irresistible…especially if he’s the kind of East Coast fella that knows how to rock the prep. Lauren and Ross’s wedding at Beaulieu Gardens is a total stunner…New England style meets wine country charm.

Feb06 Virginia Wedding by Amelia Johnson Photography 2012
Lady Grey believes that one of the greatest byproducts of weddings is time spent with loved ones. Which is why this wedding–where a London couple escapes to Virginia to say their vows–is one of our favorite ways to wed: destination style! There’s nothing like a vacation wedding to give you plenty of time to enjoy the events!
Cynthia and Connor chose a location that combined the tradition of the south with some of the city of their hometown London! The bride’s bouquet is a combination of the same elements–vintage brooches from a family friend’s collection, arranged in a modern unexpected way! With a perfect match of city chic and southern charm, we just can’t get enough of Cynthia and Connor’s beautiful day!
Very very special thanks to Amelia Johnson Photography, for all the gorgeous images!

Feb01 John’s Island Florida Wedding 2012
One of our newest Grey Collective members, Vitalic Photo, sent over this John’s Island Florida Wedding that we just WISH we had been invited too. Our dang mailman…the invitation must have been misplaced in transit. But really, Alicia and Steve’s wedding is so what I think of when I imagine East Coast Florida weddings–soft, oceanic, ethereal, and bedecked in tuxedo clad men. A perfect event in my mind.

Jan31 Martha’s Vineyard Wedding 2012
There is so much to love about Merinda and Ben’s wedding…the flowers, the relaxed Martha’s Vineyard setting, the bride’s big poofy veil (I LOVE short poofy veils…I mean…let me prove it to you!). But what’s absolutely the most amazing thing is that the bride’s dress–that total stunner of a gown–was made by her mother! You can read all about the story below! Very special thanks to Fat Orange Cat Studio for sending over this East Coast knock out.

We were so happy that we chose to have our wedding on Martha’s Vineyard. Ben and I spent a lot of time in Martha’s Vineyard since we met and we kept throwing the idea in the mix, but it would get tossed aside because of logistics. One day we decided that we were just going to take weekend trip there, meet with vendors and see where it brought us. As with every other trip there, as soon as we stepped off the ferry, we just felt so relaxed and knew that is how we wanted to feel on our wedding day. Most of our family came down the week before the wedding so it was just really great to get to spend extra time with all the people closest to us before the actual wedding day. None of it would have been possible without their help and we can’t thank everyone enough for being there with us! We really wanted something different and non-traditional. We couldn’t have been happier that we chose to get married in Edgartown!
My favorite moment of the day was our “first look”. My dad and I went out on his boat for a spin around the harbor and Ben met us at the dock. My dad and I got to have a nice talk and the boat ride totally relaxed me. Then, seeing Ben standing at the end of the dock just made my day!
A lot of our elements were DIY, I hand letter pressed our save the dates, my brother and grandmother made our cake toppers, and we enlisted our friends to help with our favors, but the biggest and most memorable was my dress. My mom made my dress! When we started dress shopping, I was looking at pretty simple dresses and my mom would joke “I could make that”. So one day as I was looking through blogs I saw a dress that I loved and sent it to my mom (completely as a joke, because it looked way too hard to make) and said “think you could make this?” and she said, “sure, why not?” I laughed, but she wasn’t kidding! She had to make a few mock ups with different fabrics until I found one I liked, but throughout the whole process my mom remained relaxed and calm (even when I decided to move 3000 miles away from her before the dress was complete) and that’s how I ended up with the best dress ever!!

Jan24 Tennessee Romance: Why Southerners Have the Loveliest Weddings 2012
I don’t know what it is about southern weddings…but they are always so charming. It must be the combination of meaningful traditions and a classic aesthetic that never goes out of style. Photographer Ali Harper, who’s joining the Grey Collective, captured all Natalie and Conar’s beautiful wedding images on film (have we mentioned we love film? We have. Oh, okay. So you know, then?). This is our absolute favorite type of wedding: timeless and elegant. Want to see more of this wedding? You can head here to Ali’s blog!
And, my sweet Tennessee brides, were you wondering how this wedding got so pretty? You ought to call of the lovely Mary Alice of A Delightful Day. Her event design savvy helped put all of this together!

I love what photographer Ali shared about her bride and groom: Natalie and Conar were married in the town Natalie grew up in — Gallatin, Tennesse — and it had the best small town charm, just like you’d expect. They had quite honestly one of the most gorgeous fall days you could ask for, and filled the tiny downtown chapel at dusk with their dearest friends and family. One of my favorite moments of the day was getting to witness Conar open up the gift his bride gave him moments before their first look… a set of embroidered handkerchiefs. That sweet token, along with a handwritten note made all of us stop and simply take it all all in. After all the “big” things have been planned on a wedding day, I always find that it’s usually about the love in the little things that become so very meaningful…
