Sep28 A Rustic Maine Wedding and Lessons in Autumn 2011
You East Coasters have something I’m so jealous of, it’s had me considering migration to your side of the continent for some time now. It’s what one might call fall! Today we’re featuring a real wedding that is a perfect example of true East Coast Autumn. Skye and Allen hosted their wedding on a family farm and brought in floral designer Flora Fauna who could not have done a better job at recreating the foliage, color, and romantic ambiance of a fall wedding. Besides Flora Fauna’s flowers, we’ve also got the talented designer Meagan of Maine Seasons Events as well as super fab photographer Michelle Turner!
For reals…I am obsessed with these florals, Maine, fall, East Coast wedding vendors, and this wedding. That pretty much sums it up for me.
Grab a Pumpkin Spiced Latte for this one. Or if you’re stuck in a cubicle, light an apple spice candle at the very least. Or take a big sniff of those cinnamon pine cones you bought at the grocery store. Anything to get you in the spirit for this one.

Oh…and my favorite thing for fall weddings are the amber votives below. They give off such a warm glowy light…get some of your own amber votives here! (I promise I’m not their salesman…I just love them!)

Sep16 Modern Inspiration (That’s Truly Modern) 2011
Sometimes I hear the word “modern” tossed around and instantly assume the word is so misunderstood, it has almost no meaning unto itself. In the design world, it’s a pretty confusing word to use because it means something different to every person. I thought today I’d share with you an event that I think encapsulates many of the elements that convey modern design: streamlined florals, sleek upholstery, subtle graphics, and a mix and match of finishes like dark wood and metallics.
So today, we’re sending you into the weekend with a little primer on modern event design, photographed by Marianne Lozano! This is tough to come by, so I really hope you enjoy this very different approach!

Sep13 Romance in the Wild + S’mores Buffet 2011
You guys…there are a couple of things about this wedding that you’ve got to love with me. First…that bouquet. Whoa momma. Second, the s’mores station. For reals, I can’t even handle how brills the idea is.
Which leads me to the next question: Are you getting creative with the food served at your wedding? If so, what are you doing to mix it up a little?
Very special thanks to photographer and videographer duo, Ryan and Heidi. If you want to see more from their wedding, you can check out the video here!

Aug15 Wooded Wedding 2011
I’m always so excited to start off a new week–especially when it comes on the heels of having attended a wedding over the weekend. After lots of sentimental tears, slow dancing with my fella, chatting with the fam, and of course, sitting back and watching the bride and groom, I’m reminded what I love so much about weddings and how thankful I am to share in that passion with each of you! When it all comes down to it, how great is it to celebrate with a couple their commitment to love and to cherish?
Well, before I get carried away, let’s soak in Christian and Stacey’s wedding in the woods, which took place at Pine Rose Cabins in Twin Peaks, California. This venue is ridiculously gorgeous…one part rustic, two parts chic. It’s a perfect mix for the romantic woodsy types among you!
I’m also adoring the photography by Bethany Belle, whose style works perfectly for this wedding! I’m loving it all! Be sure to check out the bride’s story below! I love her tidbit of advice! (Oh…and you guys…they had cinnamon rolls instead of wedding cake. Ummm…totally my kind of wedding!)

From Stacey, the bride:
Inspiration and Details: The inspiration behind the day was us. We wanted classy, vintage, rustic as well as Spanish and Italian traditions tucked in there as well. One of our special DIY projects were my garters. They were handmade by me out of my grandmother’s wedding dress lace (over 50yrs old). She passed away six years ago and I wanted a way to include her. The garters were my something borrowed.
Favorite moments of the day: Everyone told me to stay in the moment. I didn’t cry all day until I saw a pic of Christian dressed up, waiting for me for our first look, then I cried. I would recommend a first look. Aside from getting amazing photos that we wouldn’t have had time for, it calmed our nerves. I got to see him and take him in- just the two of us. There weren’t 200 people looking to see our expressions, just us. One of my favorite moments was when we left. The night was over for us. We were married & our bridal party & family made a tunnel. They were cheering. How can you not feel loved after that?
Advice: LISTEN TO YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER. They aren’t making things up when they suggest different things. They are professionals and you hired them for that reason. We got the images we wanted because we headed advice. Pictures are so important, they outlast the whole wedding. They are the only things you have left in 50 years. You won’t rememer the details unless you give your photographer time to capture them. Time is everything.

Aug08 The Clouds Getting Married 2011
Happy Monday! I’m writing to you from San Francisco! We just attended Fizz and Frills and now Bry and I are taking a couple days to soak in all the Golden Gate has to offer. I thought I’d start you off this handmade Oregon wedding that has me going pitter patter. The details are quite simple, but just as lovely. If you are all about these, just wait until later today…we’ve got a crazy rad idea that I’m dying to share. But first things first. Here are the lovely Josh and Bri Cloud, shot by Trever Hoehne, who normally doesn’t shoot weddings, but every once in a while, he makes an exception for close friends. Dang.
