I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

As the majority of Jenny and Pete’s guests were traveling to Philadelphia, they wanted to offer an entire weekend event that extended before and beyond the nuptials. They chose the riverfront mansion Glen Foerd as the venue for the big day, with its historic charm and vintage glam. The stunning bride fell in love with a sparkly Berta Bridal gown with an 8 foot (!) detachable train, because who wouldn’t?! Feast your eyes on the elegant soft-hued florals by Cottage Florist, including the over-the-top gorgeous arch. We are so thankful that Ashley Errington Photography was there to expertly capture all the fun, classic, and beautiful elements.

What made the wedding special and unique?

90% of our guests had to travel to attend our wedding in Philadelphia, where I grew up. We planned events Friday evening through Sunday evening, so it was really nice to prolong the moment. Our family lives pretty far apart from one another, and our college and high school friends might not have been together as a big group in years, so everyone appreciated the time to unplug and enjoy a mini 48-hour reunion.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I work at Hudson’s Bay, which owns Saks Fifth Avenue, so the SFA bridal salon was my first and only stop! Luckily they carry Berta Bridal, whose dresses I’d been ogling on Instagram for months. I tried on every Berta style they carried, but ultimately the sparkle and 8ft detachable train won me over.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Our seating chart was a really big hit! We bought a room divider with 15 double sided, rotating picture frames, and on each we made one side a table, and the other a picture of the two of us throughout our relationship. People had a lot of fun looking back on photos from college while finding out who they’d be sitting with. Also, Pete and one of his groomsmen DJ’d our killer after-party which stretched into the early hours of the morning.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

To be honest, the whole thing was a blur. A wonderful, loving, and fantastic blur. Can’t wait to get the videos back!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We met while we were in college at Georgetown University. We both worked at the Midnight Mug, a coffee shop located in the library. Fast forward five years, while living together in NYC, we were walking along the Hudson River as a beautiful bride posed for photos with the Statue of Liberty in the background. I asked Pete, “When’s that going to be me?” But little did I know that Pete had a ring in his pocket and with that he was down on one knee and proposed.
