Jun21 bridal shower brunch (and a note on inviting boys!) 2011

Happy first day of summer!!! It’s official. Today is the first day of freedom (at least that’s the way it used to be, right?). I thought we’d kick off the season with a gorgeous shoot styled, coordinated and designed by Natalie of A Good Affair Wedding & Event Production with photography by Marilyn Nakazato Photography.

As you’ll see, the images are of a brunch event, meant for either a rehearsal or a shower. This is the point at which I’d like to interject: what do you think of co-ed showers? I LOVE the idea. Bryan and I have a great group of couple friends, and I’ve always thought it would be a blast to include the men in the fun (not that they all are looking for a chance to have to dress up in a suit…but whatevs. They deal when it’s important, right?). I thought I’d ask you all…what type of showers did/are you having? Were any of them co-ed? Did you love it or hate it? Would you like to have the guys around?

While you mull it over, here are some gorg images, with lots of talented vendor credits below!

I have friends who did a co-ed shower — picnic style. Volleyball and softball, yummy food, and presents the couple got to open together. It worked well.

    • Grey on June 21, 2011

Yep! I think you’re right…making it about the couple and what they love to do always works so nicely!

I can see older generations balking at the idea of a coed shower, so maybe a girls-only shower for more relatives, and then also a coed shower for mostly friends. Either way, this is the prettiest brunch shower!

We had a co-ed stock the bar which was awesome! I’m all for the co-ed showers.

As for above- this is so pretty! I love the jam jars covered in burlap and the highly saturated colors.

Love the idea of a stock the bar shower! Invite all your friends and have them help you stock your bar! Although, our friends know our faves, so I feel like we might get a lot of the same thing. Ha!

These colors are so original and just stunning! I think a co-ed shower would be lovely unless there is a truly single member of the tight group that might feel un-loved or less-included. Otherwise, I think it’s a super fun idea! But, these colors!!!! They are wow pretty!

  • Coed showers, why not! And this bridal shower brunch just shows how fabulous purple and orange look together…a pairing not used often enough!!!

We’re having two bridal showers and both will be co-ed. I like the idea of having my soon-to-be-happy by my side for more celebrating :) Also, we’ll have certain relatives in town for one of the showers and it’d be nice to include all of them.

    • Grey on June 21, 2011

Totally!!! If you uncle comes in town with your aunt, it’s sad he can’t join in all the fun! I agree!

  • Madison on June 21, 2011

wow love this, love the strawberry lemonade, so purty!

  • This is really beautiful love all of the juicy colors.

I love the idea of co-ed showers….my fiance’s family threw him a “Manshower” which was co-ed for his side of the family. They gave him tools, and essentials to help him on his “honey-do” list.

Love this idea!!! Although i think I might be more excited about TOOLS than my man would. He’s a computer geek.

LOVE the colors of the flowers. And i like the idea of a couple’s shower where guys get things they can get excited about. Weddings celebrate a couple, and even though it’s easy for girls to get caught up in things like salad plates and monogrammed had towels, guys can get excited about shower gifts when they are cocktail shakers or seltzer makers or grills or. . . . i don’t know, i love salad plates.

Simply gorgeous…all of it!! I adore the sugar rimmed glasses, the blackberries {my favorite berry}, and the bright florals. I’m all for letting the guys in! It’s fun and a way for the guys to feel as though they are part of the entire planning. Love your blog…so cool! xo
